Stein Ove Berg
Stein Ove Berg (22 December 1948 – 17 June 2002) was a Norwegian singer and songwriter. Berg hailed from Kløfta. He had a musical breakthrough with the song "Manda morra blues" in 1973, and his song "Kommer nå" from 1974 was well received. He was awarded Spellemannprisen for the 1975 album ''Visa di''. His song books include ''Hestehov og brun beis'' from 1973, ''Albumblad'' from 1975, and ''58 viser'' from 1979. Legacy When Berg died in Oslo in June 2002, leader of the Labour Party, Jens Stoltenberg, wrote an obituary in ''Aftenposten''. A tributary album to Berg was issued in 2005, where his songs were performed by Henning Kvitnes, Hilde Heltberg, Roy Lønhøiden and others. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Roy Lønhøiden
Roy Lønhøiden (born in Kongsvinger, Norway, on 4 May 1964) is a Norwegian composer and singer-songwriter in the country music genre. His music is considered a blend of traditional Norwegian folk and American roots music. Biography Lønhøiden was born in Finnskogen and grew up near Lake Vingersjøen by the district of Langeland in Kongsvinger. His mother and grandparents were in the Pentecostal church and would often perform for prisoners with her congregation. He formed a group with Kristin Solli Schøien called Peyton Place in 1994 and they received an offer for a contract with Sony Music. Despite this, Lønhøiden decided to travel to the United States in 1995, where he lived with relatives and friends. He is influenced by Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Townes Van Zandt and although he returned to Norway after a year, he has been back to visit the US multiple times. Jonas Fjeld
Jonas Fjeld (born Terje Lillegård Jensen; 24 September 1952) is a Norwegian singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is best known in the English-speaking world for two albums recorded by Danko/Fjeld/Andersen, a collaboration with Canadian Rick Danko of The Band and American singer-songwriter Eric Andersen. Fjeld also recorded three albums with the American bluegrass group Chatham County Line. Biography Fjeld took his stage name from the principal character of a series of novels written by Øvre Richter Frich. Although he was born in Bodø, he moved with his family to Drammen, Norway when he was a child. Fjeld's first recording contract was with the Jonas Fjeld Rock 'n' Rolf Band, a comedy band which included Herodes Falsk, in 1972. Hilde Heltberg
Hilde Heltberg (30 September 1959 – 4 September 2011) was a Norwegian singer, guitarist and songwriter, born in Oslo, Norway. Career Heltberg started her career in the late 70s when she entered a talent competition judged by Stein Ove Berg, who became her mentor. She later joined the band Uncle John's Band, and, in 1982, X-tra, with Trond Granlund. She released her first, self-titled, solo album in 1982, but found a more individual style in 1983 with ''På bare bein'' (On bare feet), produced by Jonas Fjeld. All in all Heltberg released 12 albums over the course of her career. She also participated in the Norwegian qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest three times as an artist: in 1980, 1984 and 1985, and as a songwriter in 2000. Her last single, titled "Elske fritt" (Free love) was released in 2009. Kløfta is a town located in Ullensaker, Akershus, Norway. It has a population of approximately 7,170 inhabitants. Kløfta has a soccer team called Kløfta IL, and a shopping market. Henning Kvitnes (born 13 May 1958) is a singer/songwriter from Tistedal, Halden in Norway. His debut came with The Ice Cream Band, but he later found bigger success as a solo artist. Biography Kvitnes first made a name for himself in 1978, with The Ice Cream Band, who warmed up for Elvis Costello at Chateau Neuf in Oslo. The band soon changed name to The Young Lords.
