St. Christopher (band)
St. Christopher are a British indie pop band formed in York in 1984, who released several records on Sarah Records in the late 1980's, and have continued to release records since.Strong, Martin C. (2003) "St. Christopher", in ''The Great Indie Discography'', Canongate, History St. Christopher are mainly known for their four singles and 10" mini-LP on Sarah Records, although they actually have a much longer history, both before and after their time on Sarah. They produced a prolific quantity of recordings on a variety of labels, from the early 1980s to the present. The only constant member of the band during its more than twenty years of existence has been Glenn Melia, and, during this time, Melia and St. Christopher have recorded with many well-known indie labels, including Sarah, Bus Stop, Vinyl Japan, Elefant, Slumberland, Caff, and Parasol. Slumberland Records is an American independent record label, formed in 1989 in Washington, D.C. and based in Oakland, California. The label has released recordings by Velocity Girl, Honeybunch, Lilys, Stereolab, Evans The Death, St. Christopher, Boyracer, Beatnik Filmstars, 14 Iced Bears, and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. History Inspired by independent punk labels such as K Records, Slumberland was created as a collective effort consisting of members of D.C. area bands Velocity Girl and Big Jesus Trash Can as a mecca for indie pop bands, seldom heard outside of the K Records label. Parasol Records is an American independent record label based in Urbana, Illinois. The label was founded by Geoff Merritt as an outgrowth of the catalog Parasol Mail Order (which was started in 1991). Caff Records
Caff Records was a short lived British independent record label run by Bob Stanley of the band Saint Etienne. The label grew out of a fanzine Stanley put out with fellow band member Pete Wiggs, with the label going by the name Caff, Caff Records and Caff Corporation. Established in 1989, it is most noted for single releases by Pulp and the Manic Street Preachers. The Caff logo is a line drawing of a duck. After closing the label, Stanley together with Wiggs ran Icerink Records (1992–94), Royal Mint (1995) and EMIdisc (1996). They currently have a CD imprint called Eclipse via Universal.
