Spice Engineering
Spice Engineering was a British racing team founded by driver Gordon Spice with Raymond Bellm in the early 1980s, later becoming a successful sports car constructor in 1986. They competed in the World Sportscar Championship in Europe as well as the IMSA GT Championship in North America, at times partnering with major manufacturers such as General Motors and Honda as well as race engine manufacturer Comptech. Team history When founded by Gordon Spice and Raymond Bellm, who funded the company with Listerine sponsorship, Spice Engineering initially used Tiga sports cars in the World Sportscar Championship, running in the smaller C2 category. Debuting in the 1984 season, the team managed to score five class wins in the championship, aiding Tiga in finishing third in the constructor's standings. Comptech Spice Acura
Comptech, also known as Comptech Racing, is a company that designs and builds racing car engines. It was originally started in Sunnyvale, CA in the late 1970s by Doug Petersen and Don Erb. The company moved to a new location in Rancho Cordova, CA in the mid 1980s, then to El Dorado Hills, CA. The original Comptech closed its doors in February 2007. The race engine shop was purchased by a previously existing circle track racing supply company, Penney Racing. Comptech's Chief Executive Officer is Frederick W. Penney. 1987 World Sportscar Championship Season
The 1987 World Sportscar Championship season was the 35th season of FIA World Sportscar Championship racing. It featured the 1987 FIA World Sports Prototype Championship which was contested over a ten race series that commenced on 22 March and ended on 27 September. The championship was open to FIA Group C Sports Prototypes, FIA Group C2 Sports Prototypes and IMSA GTP cars. 1991 24 Hours Of Le Mans
The 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans was the 59th Grand Prix of Endurance, and took place on 22 and 23 June 1991. It was also the fourth round of the 1991 FIA Sportscar World Championship season. Pre-race An entirely new complex along the front stretch was built, housing modern pit stalls, garages, and the new observation suites built above the garages. As for the race, the grid line-up was an unusual affair. 1991 was supposed to be the first year the World Sportscar Championship ran to the new '3.5L' rules, which meant a new breed of sports-prototypes. Although TWR-Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and Peugeot all built cars to the new regulations for the 1991 championship series, the number of privateer teams was low and there was simply not enough of these new cars to fill the grid. Cornelius "Cor" Euser (born April 25, 1957) is a Dutch racing driver from Oss. His son Michael is also a racing driver Career After winning several Formula Ford titles in 1980 and 1981, Euser went to the FIA European Formula Three Championship part-time in 1982 and 1983. He expanded his racing in 1984 competing in the British and German Formula Three series. He made his Formula 3000 debut in the final race of the 1986 season at Jarama after failing to qualify for the first race of the season.
