The South Indian diaspora ( te, దక్షిణ భారత డయాస్పోరా) ( ta, அயலகத் தென்னிந்தியர்) ( kn, ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತೀಯ ವಲಸೆಗಾರ) ( ml, തെന്നിന്ത്യൻ പ്രവാസികൾ) comprises people who have emigrated from South Indian states to other Indian states and other countries, and people of South Indian descent born or residing in other Indian states and other countries. Dravidian People
The Dravidian peoples, or Dravidians, are an ethnolinguistic and cultural group living in South Asia who predominantly speak any of the Dravidian languages. There are around 250 million native speakers of Dravidian languages. Dravidian speakers form the majority of the population of South India and are natively found in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, the Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka. Tamil South Africans
Tamil South Africans are Indian South Africans of Tamil descent. Tamil people form the majority of Indian immigrants who came from India to Natal, South Africa, from 1860 onwards. After the expiry of their indentures most of these Indians moved to the cities, becoming established as a thoroughly urban population. Arrival in South Africa During the Dutch colonial period, people from parts of India and Sri Lanka were sent to the Cape as slaves.
