Smuglere
''Smuglere'' (The Smugglers) is a Norwegian crime film from 1968 directed by Rolf Clemens. The screenplay was written by Liv Clemens, who based it on Arthur Omre's 1935 novel of the same name. Plot In the 1920s, the unemployed architect Ernst accidentally enters a smuggling ring, and his gray and desolate existence is replaced by a lush, brazen, and colorful world. He is in love with Klara, but she leaves him. Jenny becomes his close friend. Together with Hugo and Elsa, the pair make several smuggling trips by car, with a large—but not sufficient—profit. It is only when Ernst invests in boats that the smuggling really takes off. He operates along the entire Oslo Fjord and all the way down to Rotterdam. He is constantly pursued by police and customs officials in their infamous torpedo boats. Arthur Omre
Arthur Omre (17 December 1887, in Brunlanes – 16 August 1967) was a Norwegian novelist and writer of short stories. Omre hailed from Vestfold. With a background as sailor, journalist, constructor in the United States, engineer in Oslo, businessman and entrepreneur, he went bankrupt in 1922. From then on he initiated a criminal career, and made a living from liquor smuggling, swindle and theft, also spending long periods in prison. Following release from jail in 1935, Omre made his literary début with the novel ''Smuglere'' (Smugglers). The story is largely based on his own experiences, and is written in hardboiled style. Then came the follow-ups ''Flukten'' (1936), ''Sukkenes bro'' (1937) and ''Kristinus Bergmann'' (1938). He was awarded Gyldendal's Endowment in 1938. Arne Aas (actor)
Arne Martin Aas (July 7, 1931 – April 3, 2000) was a Norwegian actor, director, and screenwriter that worked in theater, film, and TV. Theater From 1970 to 1973, Aas was the theater manager at the Trøndelag Theater, where he also made his debut in 1957 in Strindberg's ''Erik XIV''. He also had directing assignments at the theater and was employed there from 1963 onward. At the Trøndelag Theater he appeared in plays such as John Osborne's ''Look Back in Anger'' (Norwegian title: ''Se deg om i vrede'') and William Shakespeare's ''Twelfth Night'' (Norwegian title: ''Helligtrekongersaften''), and he performed the title role in Henrik Ibsen's ''Brand''. Anne-Lise Tangstad
Anne-Lise Tangstad Clausen (February 6, 1935 – December 13, 1981) was a Norwegian actress. Biography Tangstad made her debut in 1954 in the musical '' South Pacific'' at the Central Theater, where she later worked from 1957 to 1958. After that she was at the People's Theater () from 1958 to 1959 and at the Oslo New Theater from 1959 to 1970, after which she worked freelance. Frimann Falck Clausen
Frimann Falck Clausen (February 15, 1921 – March 23, 1983) was a Norwegian actor. He played the role of the truck owner Hjul in the children's series ''Jul i Skomakergata'' in 1979 and the wealthy farmer Torsøien in the Norwegian film comedy '' Bør Børson Jr.'' and its sequel. Clausen started his acting career at the Frater Theater in Drammen, where he took part in both revues and theater productions. Later he moved to Oslo, where he performed at several theaters, among them the Norwegian Theater, Oslo New Theater, and National Theatre. He also took part in several productions of NRK's Television Theater. In 1958, Clausen married the actress Anne-Lise Tangstad. Clausen died in 1983. He was cremated at the Vestre crematorium in Oslo and buried in Bragernes cemetery in Drammen. Dagmar Myhrvold
Dagmar Myhrvold (April 19, 1898 – April 21, 1972) was a Norwegian actress. After attending Sofie Bernhoft's school, Myhrvold spent a year studying theater in Copenhagen. In 1916 she was able to make her debut as a participant in Edvard Drabløs's touring theater. The following year there was a tour with '' The Dance of Death'' by August Strindberg, in which she played two roles, was responsible for the music, and played violin. From 1919 onward she was engaged with the Norwegian Theater. Birger Løvaas (November 24, 1901 – June 5, 1977) was a Norwegian actor and comedian. Løvaas played Karl Anton over 2,000 times in Gideon Wahlberg's play ''Skjærgårdsflirt'' from 1928 to 1944, and he traveled throughout Norway with his theater. ''Skjærgårdsflirt'' was the most frequently viewed play of the twentieth century in Norway. Løvaas also played Karl Anton in the film version of ''Skjærgårdsflirt'' in 1932. Bjarne Bø
Bjarne Bø (April 3, 1907 – August 9, 1998) was a Norwegian actor. Bø was born in Skjeberg in the municipality of Sarpsborg in Østfold county, Norway. He debuted in 1939 in the role of Sjur in the play ''Hu Dagmar'' by Ove Ansteinsson (1884–1942) at the Bjørnevik Theater. From 1935 to 1939 he acted at the National Theater, mostly playing minor roles. In 1951 he moved to the new People's Theater. This merged with the Oslo New Theater in 1959, and he played the rest of his career there. His most important work was at the Children's Theater, where he wrote, taught, and played in over 1,000 performances together with children. He was a recognized poetry reciter and was often engaged as a reader for NRK radio and television. Alf Malland (24 January 1917 – 16 August 1997) was a Norwegian actor. Biography He was born in Bergen, Norway. He began his acting career as a student at the Det Norske Teatret in Oslo. Following the German occupation of Norway during World War II, he quit as a theater student and participated in the resistance. Malland first went to Sweden and in 1942 he left for Great Britain where he trained as a paratrooper. He arrived at Finnmark in November 1944 as company commander with the Norwegian forces. In 1946, he was again at Det Norske Teatret and took up his theater studies. He was first employed there then freelanced. He appeared in 42 films and television shows between 1949 and 1987.
