Shooting At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's Trap
The men's trap at the 2016 Summer Olympics took place on 7–8 August 2016 at the National Shooting Center. There were 33 competitors from 24 nations. The event was won by Croatian Josip Glasnović. It was the second consecutive victory for Croatia, with Giovanni Cernogoraz taking gold in 2012 (he finished 9th this time). Italy received its fourth consecutive silver medal in the men's trap; Giovanni Pellielo was already the only man to have won three medals in the event and now became the only one to have won four. Italy's podium streak reached five Games; three times for Pellielo from 2000 to 2008 and once for Massimo Fabbrizi in 2012 before this competition. Edward Ling's bronze put Great Britain back on the podium in the event for the first time since 2000. The National Shooting Center, known as the Olympic Shooting Centre during the 2016 Summer Olympics, is a firing range in Deodoro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Erik Varga ( hu, Varga Erik; born 9 June 1976) is a Slovak sport shooter who specializes in the trap. He is a member of the Hungarian community in Slovakia. At the 2008 Olympic Games he finished in joint eighth place in the trap qualification, missing a place among the top six, who progressed to the final round. Aleksey Aleksandrovich Alipov (russian: Алексей Александрович Алипов, born 7 August 1975) is a Russian olympic Trap shooter. He is the 2004 Olympic champion in that discipline. Career Born in Moscow, he was trained at the Russian Academy of Sport. He participates for the Russian Army Sports Club, based in Moscow. He competed at the 2000 Sydney Games where he finished ninth, but he achieved his ambition on 15 August 2004 at the Athens Olympics after a flawless final round in which he was on target with all 25 shots to finish with an overall score of 149 out of 150, beating Italy's Giovanni Pellielo into the silver medal position, while Australia's Adam Vella took bronze. David Kostelecký
David Kostelecký (; born May 12, 1975, in Brno, Czechoslovakia,) is a male Czech sports shooter. He won the gold medal in the Men's Trap event at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the silver medal in the same event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Sports career He started shooting after receiving an air rifle from his grandfather, a hunter, and following his older brother. Being a junior, he was labeled unperspective, as he stated in 2021. Nevertheless, in 1993, Kostelecký won a bronze medal at the European junior championships in his home Brno. Michael Diamond (sport Shooter)
Michael Constantine Diamond, OAM (born 20 May 1972) is a professional target shooter from Australia. Career Diamond was introduced to sport shooting at the age of eight by his father, Con, who was a sporting shooter and managed a gun club. Mastering the shotgun, Diamond succeeded in winning the Olympic gold medal for trap consecutively in Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000, becoming the second men's trap shooter to have done so. He held the world record in double trap, and held the final world record in trap between 2007 and 2008. Diamond is of Greek heritage. In 1997, he changed his surname from Diamantopoulos to Diamond.
