Shenandoah (1902)
The ''Shenandoah'' is a three-masted schooner with a steel hull, built in New York in 1902. She is a private yacht. History ''Shenandoah'' was designed by Theodore E. Ferris for the American financier Gibson Fahnestock. She was launched in 1902 in Staten Island, and her first home port was Newport, and she sailed the Mediterranean Sea until 1905. The schooner has a strong resemblance to German Emperor Wilhelm II's ''Meteor III'' which was built in the same shipyard. In 1912 she was bought by the German Walther von Brüning. Her new home port became Kiel and she was renamed ''Lasca II''. She was confiscated by the British navy during the First World War. In 1919 the yacht was acquired by Lord John Espen, who rechristened her ''Shenandoah''. Two years later it was bought by Godfrey H. Williams and refitted with engines. Anton Bruun
Anton Frederik Bruun (14 December 1901 – 13 December 1961) was a Danish oceanographer and ichthyologist. Educated at University of Copenhagen (1926) and employed at the Danish Commission for Marine Research (Kommissionen for Danmarks Fiskeri- og Havundersøgelser), where he participated in the third Dana expedition (1928-1930). From 1938 employed at the Zoological Museum of Copenhagen University. In 1945-46 scientific leader of the Atlantide expedition along the coast of West Africa and in 1950-1952 scientific leader of the Galathea deep-sea expedition, which circumnavigated the world. He became the first president of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, under UNESCO and was a leading figure in establishing international organisations for the exploration of the seas. Marcel Louis Michel Antoine Bich, baron Bich (; 29 July 1914 – 30 May 1994) was an Italian-born, French manufacturer and co-founder of Bic, the world's leading producer of ballpoint pens, lighters, and razors. Early years Bich was born in Turin, Italy on 29 July 1914 to Aimé-Mario Bich (1882–1955) and Marie Muffat de Saint-Amour de Chanaz (1886–1967). His family moved to Spain and then to France where Bich was naturalised as a French citizen in 1932 and later studied law at the University of Paris. The photic zone, euphotic zone, epipelagic zone, or sunlight zone is the uppermost layer of a body of water that receives sunlight, allowing phytoplankton to perform photosynthesis. It undergoes a series of physical, chemical, and biological processes that supply nutrients into the upper water column. The Natural History Museum in London is a museum that exhibits a vast range of specimens from various segments of natural history. It is one of three major museums on Exhibition Road in South Kensington, the others being the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
