Anton Bruun
Anton Frederik Bruun (14 December 1901 – 13 December 1961) was a Danish oceanographer and ichthyologist. Educated at University of Copenhagen (1926) and employed at the Danish Commission for Marine Research (Kommissionen for Danmarks Fiskeri- og Havundersøgelser), where he participated in the third Dana expedition (1928-1930). From 1938 employed at the Zoological Museum of Copenhagen University. In 1945-46 scientific leader of the Atlantide expedition along the coast of West Africa and in 1950-1952 scientific leader of the Galathea deep-sea expedition, which circumnavigated the world. He became the first president of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, under UNESCO and was a leading figure in establishing international organisations for the exploration of the seas. Jelling
Jelling is a railway town in Denmark with a population of 3,658 (1 January 2022), located in Jelling Parish, approximately 10 km northwest of Vejle. The town lies 105 metres above sea level. Location Jelling is located in Vejle municipality and Region of Southern Denmark. The town is mainly famous for the Jelling stones, national monuments. Until the Municipal Reform of 2007 on 1 January 2007, Jelling was the capital of Jelling municipality. Jelling was also the only town in the former Vejle County headquarters for a bank – Jelling Sparekasse, which had its headquarters in the town until 2007 when it merged with , headquartered in Grindsted. Bioacoustics
Bioacoustics is a cross-disciplinary science that combines biology and acoustics. Usually it refers to the investigation of sound production, dispersion and reception in animals (including humans). This involves neurophysiological and anatomical basis of sound production and detection, and relation of acoustic signals to the medium they disperse through. The findings provide clues about the evolution of acoustic mechanisms, and from that, the evolution of animals that employ them. Strib Porpoise Research Station
Strib porpoise research station was a bioacoustic research facility located in Strib, a small town on the coast of Little Belt, Denmark. The station was formed in 1962 with the official name ''Station Oceanographique Anton Bruun'' by the first director René-Guy Busnel (France) and co-worker Willem Dudok van Heel (the Netherlands), in honour of the Danish oceanographer Anton Bruun. Søren Hechmann Andersen joined the station from the start and quickly succeeded Busnel as head of the laboratory. Later he was joined by fellow scientists Bertel Møhl and Mats Amundin.
