Scoresby Land
Scoresby Land is an area of Eastern Greenland, which lies partly in Sermersooq and partly in the Northeast Greenland National Park zone. The area is uninhabited, except for Mestersvig, a military outpost. Muskoxen are found in Scoresby Land, and formerly also reindeer. Nordvestfjord
Nordvestfjord, meaning 'Northwest Fjord', ( kl, Kangertertivarmît Kangertivat) is a fjord in King Christian X Land, eastern Greenland. Administratively most of its length lies in the Northeast Greenland National Park area, at the border of Sermersooq municipality. This fjord is part of the Scoresby Sound system. Greenland is located between the Arctic Ocean and the North Atlantic Ocean, northeast of Canada and northwest of Iceland. Scoresby Land Group
The Scoresby Land Group is a geologic group found in the Jameson Land Basin, Scoresby Land, East Greenland. It preserves fossils dating back to the Triassic period. It comprises the Wordie Creek Formation (Lower Triassic), Pingo Dal Formation (?Lower Triassic), Gipsdalen Formation ( Middle to Upper Triassic) and the Fleming Fjord Formation (Upper Triassic). It is underlain by Upper Permian beds of the Schuchert Dal Formation and overlain by Rhaetian beds of the Kap Stewart Group. Davy Sound
The Davy Sound ( da, Davy Sund) is a sound in King Christian X Land, Northeast Greenland. Administratively it is part of the Northeast Greenland National Park zone. History The sound was named and put on the map by William Scoresby (1789 – 1857) in 1822 in honour of Cornish chemist and inventor Sir Humphry Davy (1778 – 1829), president of the Royal Society from 1820 to 1827. In 1899, during the Swedish Greenland Expedition on which Swedish Arctic explorer Alfred Gabriel Nathorst found and first mapped King Oscar Fjord, he made southwards for the Davy Sound after having entered from Antarctic Sound. But Davy sound was blocked by ice and Nathorst had to travel back north. Nathorst proposed 72° 10′ N as the northern limit of Davy Sound, which is roughly the present day geographic limit. Lieut. P. Antarctic Haven
Antarctic Haven ( da, Antarctic Havn) is a bay in King Christian X Land, Northeastern Greenland. Administratively it lies in the Northeast Greenland National Park area. Liverpool Land
Liverpool Land is a peninsula in eastern Greenland. Geography The peninsula is bounded by Scoresby Sund in the south, Carlsberg Fjord in the northwest, '' Kangerterajiva'' (Hurry Inlet) in the southwest, the Greenland Sea in the east, and Jameson Land in the west. It was named by William Scoresby, who thought that Hurry Inlet had a confluence with Carlsberg Fjord, separating Liverpool Land from Jameson Land. Jameson Land
Jameson Land is a peninsula in eastern Greenland. Geography Jameson Land is bounded to the southwest by Scoresby Sound (the world's largest fjord), to the northwest by the Stauning Alps, to the north by Scoresby Land, to the northeast by the Fleming Fjord and the Nathorst Fjord of the Greenland Sea, and to the east by Carlsberg Fjord, the smaller Liverpool Land peninsula branching off, and Hurry Inlet. Nathorst Land (Greenland)
Nathorst Land is an area in King Christian X Land, Eastern Greenland. It lies in the Northeast Greenland National Park zone. The area is remote and uninhabited. Nathorst Land was named after Swedish Arctic explorer Alfred Gabriel Nathorst (1850–1921) by Lauge Koch during aerial surveys in 1932 which were part of the Three-year Expedition to East Greenland. Geography Nathorst Land is a mountainous region bounded by the F. Graae Glacier and the inner Nordvestfjord to the south, and to the north by Tærskeldal and Forsblad Fjord, beyond which lies Lyell Land.
