Satgawan is a community development block (CD block) that forms an administrative division in the Koderma subdivision of the Koderma district, Jharkhand state, India. Overview Koderma district occupies the northern end of the Chota Nagpur Plateau. The average altitude is above sea level. Koderma Subdivision
Koderma subdivision is the only administrative subdivision in the Koderma district in the North Chotanagpur division in the state of Jharkhand, India. History Koderma sub-division was created in Hazaribagh district in 1973 and on 10 April 1994, it was made a full-fledged district. Administrative set up The district is headed by a deputy commissioner, who is assisted by a number of officers. Koderma subdivision continues to function with six community development blocks: Koderma, Jainagar, Markacho, Satgawan, Chandwara and Domchanch. Two statutory towns are: Koderma and Jhumri Telaiya. Koderma District
Koderma district is one of the twenty-four districts of Jharkhand state, India, and Koderma is the administrative headquarters of this district. Koderma district was created on 10 April 1994, after being carved out of the original Hazaribagh district. It is currently a part of the Red Corridor. Geography Koderma is bordered by Nawada district of Bihar on the north, the Gaya district of Bihar on the west, the Giridih district of Jharkhand on the east, and the Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand on the south. Tilaiya Dam
Tilaiya Dam was the first of the four multi-purpose dams included in the first phase of the Damodar Valley Corporation. It was constructed across the Barakar River, at Tilaiya in Koderma district in the Indian state of Jharkhand and opened in 1953. DVC overview The valley of the Damodar River was flood prone and the devastating flood of 1943, lead to the formation of the high-powered ”Damodar Flood Enquiry Committee” by the government of Bengal. The committee recommended the formation of a body similar to the Tennessee Valley Authority of the United States. Subsequently, W.L. Voorduin, a senior engineer of TVA, was appointed to study the problem. He suggested the multi-purpose development of the valley as a whole in 1944. Jhumri Telaiya
Jhumri Telaiya (also spelled as Jhumri Tilaiya) is a city in the Koderma subdivision of the Koderma District of Jharkhand, India. Etymology Jhumri is the name of the original village in the area, which is now located in the city. The word "Telaiya" is the Hindi language word for a small lake (the Tilaiya Dam reservoir). Jhumari is also said to be a local folk dance. History Jhumri Telaiya was once a major mica mining center. While laying a railroad through Kodarma in the 1890s, the British first discovered vast mica deposits in the region. Mining activities started soon after and many mining houses were established.
