The Sanremo Music Festival 2001 ( it, Festival di Sanremo 2001), officially the 51st Italian Song Festival (), was the 51st annual Sanremo Music Festival, held at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo, province of Imperia, between 26 February and 3 March 2001 and broadcast by Rai 1. The show was presented by Raffaella Carrà, assisted by Megan Gale, Massimo Ceccherini and Enrico Papi. The winner of the Big Artists section was Elisa with the song "Luce (Tramonti a nord est)", which also won the Mia Martini Critics Award. The group Gazosa won the "Newcomers" section with the song "Stai con me (Forever)". Raffaella Maria Roberta Pelloni (18 June 1943 – 5 July 2021), better known as Raffaella Carrà (), was an Italian singer, dancer, television presenter, actress and model. She was well known in Europe and Latin America as a result of her many television shows and records. Piero Chiambretti (born 30 May 1956) is an Italian television presenter. Biography Born on 30 May 1956 in Aosta to Felicita Chiambretti, an 18-year-old single mother, he grew up in Turin. He later moved to Bologna, where he studied Arts, Music and Entertainment. During his studies, Chiambretti also presented some cabaret shows and worked as a tourist resort entertainer. His first TV appearance was in 1977, when he co-presented the show ''Non siamo gazzose'' with Erik Colombardo, aired by Grp, a local TV channel broadcast in Piedmont only. Michele Zarrillo
Michele Zarrillo (born 13 June 1957) is an Italian singer-songwriter. He is mainly known for hits such as "Una rosa blu" (A blue rose), "Cinque giorni" (Five days), L'elefante e la farfalla (The elephant and the butterfly) and "La notte dei pensieri" (The night of thoughts). In 1987 he won the Sanremo Music Festival, competing in the newcomers' section. Piero Cassano
Piero Cassano (born 13 September 1948) is an Italian keyboardist, singer and composer, a founding member of the Genoan band Matia Bazar. Early career and Jet Cassano started playing the piano at a young age. In 1971 he founded the progressive rock band JET with fellow musicians Aldo Stellita and Carlo Marrale. The band released an album, ''Fede, speranza, carità'' and unsuccessfully participated to the Sanremo Music Festival 1973 with the song ''Anika na-o''. Matia Bazar
Matia Bazar () is an Italian pop band formed in Genoa in 1975. The original members of the group were Piero Cassano (keyboards), Aldo Stellita (bass), Carlo Marrale (guitar, vocals), Giancarlo Golzi (drums) and Antonella Ruggiero (vocals). They represented Italy in the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest with a song called "Raggio di luna". They are known for the quality of their female vocalists: after Antonella Ruggiero, Laura Valente, Silvia Mezzanotte, Roberta Faccani and currently Luna Dragonieri. Piero Vivarelli (26 February 1927 – 7 September 2010) was an Italian film director, screenwriter and lyricist. Vivarelli was born in Siena.
