Samar College, Inc. (Filipino: ''Kolehiyo ng Samar'';Waray: ''Eskuwelahan Tersyedad han Samar'') (abbreviated as SC) is a private school in Catbalogan, Samar, Philippines. It was founded in 1949 as the Samar Junior College and initially offered Elementary Teacher Certificate and Associate in Arts. Bachelor's degree programs in Education were opened in the 1950s, while the Bachelor of Science in Commerce followed in the 1980s. The college expanded its undergraduate programs throughout the years, and it eventually established the College of Graduate Studies in the late 1990s. This was also the same time that the high school and elementary departments were opened. At present, Samar College provides programs in the elementary, junior high school, senior high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels. Waray Language
Waray (also known as Waray-Waray or Bisaya/Binisaya nga Winaray/Waray) is an Austronesian language and the fifth-most-spoken native regional language of the Philippines, native to Eastern Visayas. It is the native language of the Waray people and second language of the Abaknon people of Capul, Northern Samar, and some Cebuano-speaking peoples of western and southern parts of Leyte island. It is the third most spoken language among the Bisayan languages, only behind Cebuano and Hiligaynon. Catbalogan, officially the City of Catbalogan ( war, Siyudad han Catbalogan; fil, Lungsod ng Catbalogan), is a 5th class component city and capital of the province of Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 106,440 people. It is Samar's main commercial, trading, educational, financial and political center. Samar, officially the Province of Samar ( war, Probinsya han Samar; tl, Lalawigan ng Samar), formerly named as Western Samar, is a province in the Philippines located in the Eastern Visayas region.
