Northwest Samar State University
The Northwest Samar State University is a public university in the Philippines located in Calbayog City with extension campus in San Jorge, Samar and the IOMD Campus Online. It is mandated to provide advanced education, higher technological, professional instruction and training in trade, fishery, agriculture, science, education, commerce, engineering, forestry, nautical courses and other related fields. It is also mandated to undertake research and extension services, and provide progressive leadership in its areas of specialization. Its main campus is in Calbayog City. History In 1948, Calbayog High School was established to cater to the underprivileged students of Calbayog. It existed for seven years until closed due to lack of funding support. Calbayog, officially the City of Calbayog ( war, Siyudad han Calbayog; fil, Lungsod ng Calbayog), is a 1st class component city in the province of Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 186,960 people. Samar ( ) is the third-largest and seventh-most populous island in the Philippines, with a total population of 1,909,537 as of the 2020 census. San Jorge, Samar
San Jorge, officially the Municipality of San Jorge ( war, Bungto han San Jorge; tl, Bayan ng San Jorge), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 17,579 people. The town is famous for its Blanca Aurora Falls near Barangay Blanca Aurora along the Blanca Aurora river. On December 6, 1978, Pagsanghan and San Jorge were created as a new municipalities out of Gandara. An inauguration is held every 10 October since 1979.
