Saint-Augustin (Paris Métro)
Saint-Augustin () is a station on Line 9 of the Paris Métro. Named after Place Saint-Augustin (itself named after Saint-Augustin church, the station opened on 27 May 1923 with the line's extension from Trocadéro. It is located in the 8th arrondissement. History After the extension of Line 14 to Saint-Lazare opened in 2004, the station was connected to Saint-Lazare Métro station (which is near Saint-Lazare railway station) by a long underground passageway. This allows interchange to Line 14 as advertised on RATP maps. There is also connection to Lines 3, 12 and 13 via the Line 14 platforms, but under normal operating conditions these connections are not useful and are not indicated on RATP maps. Pont de Sèvres () is a station of the Paris Métro on line 9, serving as its western terminus. It is located near the pont de Sèvres, which is a bridge on the Seine connecting to Sèvres. History The station opened on 3 February 1934 with the extension from Porte de Saint-Cloud station. It was the first extension of the métro network beyond the limits of Paris. Hence, it is one of the first three stations to provide service to the inner suburbs of Paris (along with ''Billancourt'' and ''Marcel Sembat''). Victor Baltard
Victor Baltard (9 June 180513 January 1874) was a French architect famed for work in Paris including designing Les Halles market and the Saint-Augustin church. Life Victor was born in Paris, son of architect Louis-Pierre Baltard and attended Lycée Henri IV. During his student days Baltard, a Lutheran, attended the Calvinist Temple du Marais with other Protestant students including Georges-Eugène Haussmann with whom he would collaborate in the latter's renovation of Paris. He later studied at the École des Beaux-Arts, where he garnered the Prix de Rome for designing a military school in 1833.
