Saarbrücken Railway
The Saarbrücken Railway (german: Saarbrücker Eisenbahn) was a division of the Prussian state railways that was responsible for the construction of the first railways in the Saarland. The ''Royal Administration of the Saarbrücken Railway'' (''Königliche Direction der Saarbrücker Eisenbahn'') was established on 22 May 1852 with the goal of managing and operating the soon to be opened state railway line from the (then) border with Bavaria near Bexbach via Neunkirchen and St. Johann-Saarbrücken to the French border at Forbach. It replaced the ''Royal Commission for the construction of the Saarbrücken Railway'' (''Königlichen Kommission für den Bau der Saarbrücker Eisenbahn''), which had been created at the end of 1847 by the Prussian government with responsibility for the planning and construction of this line. Fischbach Valley Railway
The Fischbach Valley Railway (german: Fischbachtalbahn, KBS 681) is a railway line in the German state of the Saarland that runs from Saarbrücken along the Fischbache, which flows into the Saar in Saarbrücken, to Wemmetsweiler. Since the opening of the Wemmetsweiler curve in 2003, the line branches west to Lebach as the Prims Valley Railway (''Primstalbahn'') and east to Neunkirchen. History Coal mines were developed in the Fischbach in the early 1870s. Collieries were started at Camphausen in 1871, at Brefeld in 1872 and at Maybach in 1873. During the planning phase some consideration was given to the transport of coal. Initially it was planned that the coal mines would be connected with branch lines to the Sulzbach valley. Cochem
Cochem is the seat of and the biggest town in the Cochem-Zell district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. With just over 5,000 inhabitants, Cochem falls just behind Kusel, in the Kusel district, as Germany's second smallest district seat. The Koblenz–Trier Railway is a railway line in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, located mostly on the left (northern) bank of the Moselle, connecting Koblenz via Bullay to Trier. It is known in German as the ''Moselstrecke'', i.e. "Moselle line". The Thionville–Trier railway (also called in German the ''Obermoselstrecke'', Upper Moselle line) connects Thionville in the French region of Grand Est with Trier in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
