Sárika Góth
Charlotte "Sárika" Góth (1900-1992) was a Hungarian-Dutch painter. Biography Góth was born on 29 March 1900 in Vienna, Austria to Hungarian parents. Over the course of her lifetime she lived in various parts of Europe including Paris, Budapest, Amsterdam, the Carpathian Mountains region, and Veere. Her teachers included her father, , Jo Koster, André Lhote, and Jan Toorop. From 1918 through 1920 she studied at the ''Akademie van beeldende kunsten'' (Royal Academy of Art, The Hague). Góth was a member of the '' Arti et Amicitiae'', and ''Zeeuwse Kunstkring''. Góth's work was included in the 1939 exhibition and sale ''Onze Kunst van Heden'' (Our Art of Today) at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Veere (; zea, label=Zeelandic, Ter Veere) is a municipality with a population of 22,000 and a town with a population of 1,500 in the southwestern Netherlands, in the region of Walcheren in the province of Zeeland. History The name ''Veere'' means "ferry": Wolfert Van Borssele established a ferry and ferry house there in 1281. Onze Kunst van Heden (Contemporary Artists/Our Art of Today) was an exhibition held in the winter of 1939 through 1940 at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Due to the threat of invasion in the years leading up to World War II, the Netherlands' government stored many items from the Rijksmuseum's permanent collection. The resulting empty gallery space was utilized by contemporary Dutch artists to exhibit and sell their art. It was organized by the director of the Rijksmuseum . Arti et Amicitiae (lat .: For Art and Friendship) is a Dutch artist's society founded in 1839, and located on the Rokin in Amsterdam. The Society (also called Arti for short) has played a key role in the Netherlands art scene and in particular in the Amsterdam art schools.
