Szprudowo
Szprudowo is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Gniew, within Tczew County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. It lies approximately north of Gniew, south of Tczew, and south of the regional capital Gdańsk. It is located within the ethnocultural region of Kociewie in the historic region of Pomerania. Szprudowo was a royal village of the Polish Crown, administratively located in the Tczew County in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. During the German occupation of Poland (World War II), in 1939, the Germans murdered some Poles from Szprudowo along with inhabitants of other villages during large massacres in the Szpęgawski Forest, and expelled several Poles, whose farms were handed over to Germans as part of the ''Lebensraum'' policy. Its seat is the town of Gniew, which lies approximately south of Tczew and south of the regional capital Gdańsk. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2006 its total population is 15,534 (out of which the population of Gniew amounts to 6,787, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 8,747). KS Mewa Gniew
KS Mewa Gniew is a football club based in Gniew, Kociewie, Poland. As of the 2022–23 season, the club finished 10th in Klasa A, the seventh level in the Polish league pyramid. History Mewa Gniew was formed in 1958. The club was formerly sponsored by the local Rolls Royce factory and during this time were renamed KS Mewa RR-WIP Gniew for branding purposes. In 2001 Mewa Gniew beat rivals KS Majewo 5–3 in a Tczew County derby. During the winter break of the 2010–11 season the club were forced to withdraw from the Klasa A and dissolve the senior team, with the majority of their players transferring to local rivals. In 2013 the club entered the Puchar Sołtysa sports tournament which took place in Kursztyn finishing in third place. The Expulsion of Poles by Nazi Germany during World War II was a massive operation consisting of the forced resettlement of over 1.7 million Poles from the territories of German-occupied Poland, with the aim of their Germanization (see Lebensraum) between 1939 and 1944. The German Government had plans for the extensive colonisation of territories of occupied Poland, which were annexed directly into Nazi Germany in 1939. Eventually these plans grew bigger to include parts of the General Government. The region was to become a "purely German area" within 15–20 years, as explained by Adolf Hitler in March 1941. By that time the General Government was to be cleared of 15 million Polish nationals, and resettled by 4–5 million ethnic Germans.
