Svetlana Krivelyova
Svetlana Vladimirovna Krivelyova (russian: Светлана Владимировна Кривелёва; born 13 June 1969) is a former track and field athlete who specialised in the shot put. Krivelyova was born in Bryansk, Russia. Her career highlights were the Summer Olympics gold medal in 1992 whilst representing the Unified Team where she beat the reigning world champion Huang Zhihong of China and her World Championship victory in 2003. Her most unlikely victory came at the 2004 World Indoor Championships. She was awarded the gold medal after Ukraine's Vita Pavlysh was stripped of her title for failing a drug test. This was the second time Pavlysh was found to have taken anabolic steroids and lost a World indoor title; she was subsequently banned from athletics for life. Viktoriya Anatoliïvna Pavlysh ( uk, Вікторія Анатопіївна Павпиш; born 15 January 1969 in Kharkov, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union) is a former track and field athlete who specialized in the shot put. Pavlysh was stripped of her 1999 IAAF World Indoor Championships gold medal after she had tested positive for anabolic steroid stanozolol at the event in Maebashi, Japan. She claimed that she may have taken the drug to aid her recovery from injury. For this offence she received a two-year ban. Five years later at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Budapest, Hungary she won the title again only to fail the drug test for the same reason. She was again stripped of her title and banned from athletics for life. Whether because of her drug-use or not, Pavlysh was famed for her very muscular lower body. The World Athletics Indoor Championships are a biennial indoor track and field competition served as the global championship for that version of the sport. Huang Zhihong (); born May 7, 1965, in Lanxi, Jinhua, Zhejiang) is a former shot put athlete from China.
