Susanne Ussing
Susanne Ussing (November 29, 1940 – March 8, 1998) was a Danish artist, architect and ceramicist. The feminine world fascinated her. A large portion of her works were created with organic materials. With her husband, Carsten Hoff, the created a design studio called Ussing and Hoff. in 1970, after her design studio was created, she began to practice her expertise in housing construction. Ussing entered the Danish Architects' Association competition from 1970 - 1973 using award-winning ideas for multi-story homes. The fusing of art and living life was a continuous them in Ussing's work. The Women's Exhibition in 1975 and the Children's Exhibitions, shown across her country, from 1978-1979 showed this theme. Ussing and Hoff's workshop caught fire in 1984. Ussing did not allow this to stop her as she still presented her burnt pieces at the North Jutland Art Museum, in 1987. Nykredit Architecture Prize
The Nykredit Architecture Prize is the largest Danish architecture prize. Founded by the Nykredit Foundation (an arm of the Nykredit Group), it is awarded annually to a person, or group of people, who have personally, or through their work, made a significant contribution to the building industry in the form of architecture or planning, etc. The recipient receives DKK 500,000, making it one of the largest architecture prizes in the world in terms of prize money. In 1991 the Nykredit Foundation began awarding the Motivational Award/Encouragement Prize to talented young architects who have made an impact on the architecture scene. Eckersberg Medal
The Eckersberg Medal (originally the ''Akademiets Aarsmedaille'' or Annual Academy Medal) is an annual award of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. It is named after Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg, known as the father of Danish painting. The Eckersberg Medal was created in 1883, on the 100th birthday of its namesake. Louisiana Museum Of Modern Art
The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is an art museum located on the shore of the Øresund Sound in Humlebæk, north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the most visited art museum in Denmark, and has an extensive permanent collection of modern and contemporary art, dating from World War II to the present day; in addition, it has a comprehensive programme of special exhibitions. The museum is also acknowledged as a milestone in modern Danish architecture, and is noted for its synthesis of art, architecture, and landscape, such as was showcased in an installation entitled "Riverbed" shown in 2014–2015. Kunsthal Charlottenborg
Kunsthal Charlottenborg is an exhibition building in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the official exhibition gallery of the Royal Danish Academy of Art. History Charlottenborg Palace was constructed in 1672–83 as a residence for Ulrik Frederik Gyldenløve (1638–1704). It was constructed in the Baroque architectural idiom shared by Holland, England and Denmark. . Dowager queen Charlotte Amalie (1650–1714) bought the palace in 1700, and her name has remained with it ever since. In 1787, the ownership of the Palace was transferred to the Royal Danish Academy of Art. Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum
KUNSTEN Museum of Modern Art is located in Aalborg, Denmark, on Kong Christians Allé near its junction with Vesterbro. Of a modern Scandinavian design, it was built between 1968 and 1972 by Finland, Finnish architects Elissa Aalto, Elissa and Alvar Aalto and Denmark, Danish architect Jean-Jacques Baruël. It was completed on 8 June 1972. The museum has been termed a "showplace for 20th-century Danish and international art", as it showcases both domestic and international modern art collections. It is described as "strikingly contemporary in both form and content". Women Architects
Women in architecture have been documented for many centuries, as professional (or amateur) practitioners, educators and clients. Since architecture became organized as a profession in 1857, the number of women in architecture has been low. At the end of the 19th century, starting in Finland, certain schools of architecture in Europe began to admit women to their programmes of study. In 1980 M. Rosaria Piomelli, born in Italy, became the first woman to hold a deanship of any school of architecture in the United States, as Dean of the City College of New York School of Architecture.
