Nykredit Architecture Prize
The Nykredit Architecture Prize is the largest Danish architecture prize. Founded by the Nykredit Foundation (an arm of the Nykredit Group), it is awarded annually to a person, or group of people, who have personally, or through their work, made a significant contribution to the building industry in the form of architecture or planning, etc. The recipient receives DKK 500,000, making it one of the largest architecture prizes in the world in terms of prize money. In 1991 the Nykredit Foundation began awarding the Motivational Award/Encouragement Prize to talented young architects who have made an impact on the architecture scene. Gehl is an urban research and design consulting firm based in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was founded in 2000 by Professor Jan Gehl and urban designer Helle Søholt as a continuation of Gehl's research within the area over the past four decades. Stig Lennart Andersson
Stig Lennart Andersson (born 30 March 1957) usually referred to as Stig L. Andersson, is a Danish landscape architect, founder and Creative Director of Copenhagen-based SLA which has developed into an interdisciplinary organisation working with landscape, urban spaces and urban planning. Andersson is also professor at University of Copenhagen and was visiting professor at Aarhus School of Architecture in 2009. Biography Stig L. Andersson studied landscape architecture at the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1981 to 1986. Following his graduation, he travelled to Japan on a Japanese scholarship. After first embarking on an academic career, working as an assistant professor from 1985 to 1991, he set up his own practice in 1994. Entasis (company)
Entasis is a Danish architecture firm based in Copenhagen. It takens its name from the Greek word for tension. History Entasis was founded by Christian and Signe Cold in 1996. Their first building, a new main entrance for Copenhagen Zoo, was awarded the AIA Prize 'Best Building in Europe 1998'. In 2007 the firm won the open international competition for the redevelopment of the former Carlsberg brewery site in Copenhagen, with a proposal which, in reaction to Modernist planning, relied on dense, Medieval town centres for inspiration. An emphasis on physical density and the human scale are characteristic of their work. The same trend is seen in their entry for the Søtorvet competition in Silkeborg which they won in 2010. CEBRA
CEBRA is a Danish architectural office founded in 2001 by the architects Mikkel Frost, Carsten Primdahl and Kolja Nielsen. Based in Aarhus in Denmark and in Abu Dhabi in the UAE, CEBRA employs a multidisciplinary international staff of 50. In February 2017 the CEBRA-designed Experimentarium was inaugurated, a science center in Hellerup, near Copenhagen. In 2013 The Iceberg, a multiple prize-winning housing project, was built in the revitalized harbour area in Aarhus, Denmark. One of the founding partners, Mikkel Frost, often paints in watercolours cartoonish concepts of some of CEBRA's projects and the whole collection is name"Toons" In autumn 2016 two of these watercolours have been acquired by the Museum for Architectural Drawing in Berlin, Germany. Dorte Mandrup-Poulsen (born 28 July 1961) is a Danish architect. Founder and Creative Director of the architectural practice Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter A/S that has approximately 60 employees. The practice is based in Copenhagen, Denmark and is behind several internationally acclaimed buildings. Dorte Mandrup’s work is characterized by being conceptually strong as well as innovative in terms of form and material, but also by an analytical approach to architecture. Dorte Mandrup is behind the Wadden Sea Centre at the Danish West Coast, the Icefjord Centre by the UNESCO trail in Ilulissat in Greenland, and most recently Danish clothing company Bestseller’s upcoming mixed use development in Brande, which has already received attention due to its plans of building a more than 200 metre tall tower, thereby becoming Denmark’s tallest building. Lene Tranberg
Lene Tranberg, Hon. FAIA (born 29 November 1956) is a Danish architect, head architect and a founding partner of Lundgaard & Tranberg. History Lene Tranberg was born in Copenhagen in 1956. In 1977, she was admitted to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture where she studied under Erik Christian Sørensen. In 1983, one year before graduating, she co-founded Lundgaard & Tranberg with Boje Lundgaard. The firm gained prominence after the turn of the millennium with a number of high-profile buildings in Copenhagen, including most notably the Tietgenkollegiet student residences and the Royal Danish Playhouse. Olafur Eliasson
Olafur Eliasson ( is, Ólafur Elíasson; born 5 February 1967) is an Icelandic–Danish artist known for sculptured and large-scale installation art employing elemental materials such as light, water, and air temperature to enhance the viewer's experience. In 1995 he established Studio Olafur Eliasson in Berlin, a laboratory for spatial research. Malene Hauxner
Malene Hauxner (18 September 1942 – 18 January 2012) was a Danish landscape architect, author, educator and professor of Theory, Method and History at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University (KVL). Biography Hauxner was born in Frederiksberg, Denmark. Her parents were Jørgen Bo and Gerda Rigmor Boisen Bennike. She became a landscape architect after graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in 1968. In 1993 she was awarded a doctoral degree (Dr. agronomiae). From 1975 she worked in parallel as assistant professor in retail planning, later as associate professor at KVL. In 1979 she established her own landscape design firm. Bjarke Ingels
Bjarke Bundgaard Ingels (; born 2 October 1974) is a Danish architect, founder and creative partner of Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). In Denmark, Ingels became well known after designing two housing complexes in Ørestad: VM Houses and Mountain Dwellings. In 2006 he founded Bjarke Ingels Group, which grew to a staff of 400 by 2015, with noted projects including the 8 House housing complex, VIA 57 West in Manhattan, the Google North Bayshore headquarters (co-designed with Thomas Heatherwick), the Superkilen park, and the Amager Resource Center (ARC) waste-to-energy plant – the latter which incorporates both a ski slope and climbing wall on the building exterior.
