Susanna Camusso
Susanna Camusso (born 14 August 1955) is an Italian trade unionist and former General Secretary of the CGIL. Biography Camusso became involved with trade unions in 1975, while studying for a degree in archeology (incomplete), and was an activist for the right to education, coordinating the courses of the 150 hours of FLM in Milan. In the same period, she began to be an activist in the Italian Socialist Party. From 1977 to 1997 she was director of the local FIOM Milan, with some interruptions due to working with other union categories. She then moved to the regional FIOM in Lombardy, and finally to the national secretariat of the same metalworkers' union CGIL, with expertise in the automotive sector and steel production. She went on to assume the regional secretariat of FLAI, the agro-industry sector union CGIL and in 2001 was elected general secretary of the CGIL in Lombardy. The Italian Labour Union or UIL ( it, Unione Italiana del Lavoro) is a national trade union center in Italy. It was founded in 1950 as a socialist, social democratic, (republican) and laic split from the Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL, ''Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro''). 2013 Silvio Berlusconi Conviction
Silvio Berlusconi, then the Prime Minister of Italy, was accused and initially formally convicted of paying 17-year-old Moroccan Karima El Mahroug, also known by the stage name Ruby Rubacuori (Italian for "Ruby the Heartstealer"), for sexual services between February and May 2010 when she was under the age of 18; he was found not guilty on appeal. He was found not guilty on appeal also, formerly convicted of malfeasance in office ( it, concussione) by arranging to have El Mahroug released from police detention during an incident in which she was briefly held on claims of theft. On 24 June 2013, the Court of First Instance sentenced Berlusconi to seven years in prison, and banned him from public office for life. Guglielmo Epifani (24 March 1950 – 7 June 2021) was an Italian trade unionist and politician. From 2002 to 2010, he was the General Secretary of the Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL), which was the biggest trade union in Europe. On 11 May 2013, Epifani was appointed secretary of the Democratic Party (PD). Biography Epifani was born in Rome in 1950.
