Survey Peak is a mountain summit in Alberta, Canada. Description Survey Peak is located in the Canadian Rockies of Banff National Park. It is situated at the intersection of the North Saskatchewan River valley and Howse River valley. Topographic relief is modest as the summit rises 1,200 metres (3,937 ft) above Glacier Lake in . The nearest higher named peak is Mount Erasmus, to the west. Survey Peak can be seen from the Icefields Parkway west of Saskatchewan Crossing. Mount Outram
Mount Outram is a mountain summit located in the Howse River Valley of Banff National Park, in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, Canada. Its nearest higher peak is Mount Forbes, to the southwest. Glacier Lake is situated to the north, and the Sir James Glacier lies below the south aspect of the peak. Mount Sarbach is a mountain located in Banff National Park between Mistaya River and Howse River and is visible from the Icefields Parkway. The mountain is named after Peter Sarbach, a mountain guide from Switzerland, who guided the first ascent by J. Norman Collie and G.P. Baker in 1897. The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems. Survey Peak Formation
The Survey Peak Formation is a stratigraphic unit of latest Cambrian to earliest Ordovician age. It is present on the western edge of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta and British Columbia. It was named for Survey Peak near Mount Erasmus in Banff National Park by J.D. Aitken and B.S. Norford in 1967. The Survey Peak Formation is fossiliferous and includes remains of trilobites and other marine invertebrates, as well as conodonts, stromatolites, and thrombolites. Laramide Orogeny
The Laramide orogeny was a time period of mountain building in western North America, which started in the Late Cretaceous, 70 to 80 million years ago, and ended 35 to 55 million years ago. The exact duration and ages of beginning and end of the orogeny are in dispute. The Laramide orogeny occurred in a series of pulses, with quiescent phases intervening.
