''Surang'' () is a 1953 film directed by V. Shantaram for his Rajkamal Kalamandir banner. The story and dialogue were by Vinod Kumar with music by Shivram Krishna and lyrics by Shewan Rizwi. The actor Chandrashekhar came into prominence with his role of a miner in the film. The rest of cast included Shashikala, Sheila Ramani, Vinod Kumar, Ulhas and Vikas. Shashikala
Shashikala Saigal (née Jawalkar; 4 August 1932 – 4 April 2021), better known by her first name, was an Indian film and television actress, who played supporting roles in hundreds of Bollywood films beginning in the 1940s. Early years Shashikala Jawalkar was one of six children born in Solapur, Maharashtra to a Hindu Bhavsar Shimpi caste Marathi speaking family. Rajkamal Kalamandir
Rajkamal Kalamandir was a noted film production company and studio in Mumbai. It was established by V. Shantaram in 1942, after he left Prabhat Films. The studio produced films both in Hindi and Marathi, and it was best known for '' Dr. Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani'' (1946), ''Amar Bhoopali'' (1951), ''Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje'' (1955), ''Do Aankhen Barah Haath'' (1957), ''Navrang'' (1959) and '' Pinjra'' (1972). In its heyday, Rajkamal was one of the most sophisticated studios of the country. History Prabhat Films was founded in Kolhapur, in 1929, towards the end of the silent films' era, by the V. ''Apna Desh'' (Our Country) is a 1949 Hindi social drama film set against the backdrop of Partition and directed by V. Shantaram for his Rajkamal Kalamandir banner. The story was written by Diwan Sharar and Keshavrao Date. Sharar also wrote the screenplay and dialogue along with acting in the film. Music was by S. Purshottam and lyrics were by Diwan Sharar and Mirza Ghalib. Sheila Ramani
Sheila Ramani (2 March 1932 – 15 July 2015), also known as Sheila Kewalramani, was an Indian actress who was introduced into Bollywood by the film-maker Chetan Anand. She is known for her role in the movie ''Taxi Driver''. She was born in Sindh and was one of the few actresses from Sindh to join the Indian film industry. Personal life Ramani was crowned Miss Shimla in the early 1950s. She was mostly seen as an upper-class mod girl in the roles she portrayed in many movies. She played the lead in a Pakistani film. Ramani went back to India and starred in further movies in Mumbai. In the later part of her career, she was reduced to obscure films. Vasant Desai (1912–1975) was an Indian film music composer, most remembered for his score in V.
