Super Summer
Super Summer is a youth evangelism and leadership camp associated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas for youth graduating from 7th grade to 12th grade. The camp is usually held on a Christian college/university campus of the campers' states. There are Super Summner camps in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Arkansas, Montana, Missouri, Kansas, Alabama, Illinois, Mississippi, Indiana, New York, Ohio, and Tennessee. History Super Summer of Texas began in 1974 as a training course for Christian young people for personal religious growth and evangelism. Started by Dr. George Worrell, the camp begun as a cooperative effort by several Texas churches in Texas. Student groups met for school sessions in church buildings in the Dallas area. They were housed in the homes of volunteer church members, and bused to their school locations each day. Baptist General Convention Of Texas
The Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT) is the oldest surviving Baptist convention in the state of Texas. It is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Baptist World Alliance. In 2009, the BGCT began to also go by the name Texas Baptists to better communicate who they are. The convention's offices are located in Dallas, Texas, though convention staff are located across the state. The president of the BGCT is Jason Burden and the Executive Director is David Hardage. History There were Baptists among the first Anglo-American settlers of Texas, but under Spain (and later Mexico), non-Catholic religious worship was prohibited. Southwest Baptist University (SBU) is a private Baptist university in Bolivar, Missouri. It is affiliated with the Missouri Baptist Convention, which is part of the Southern Baptist Convention. In 2019, it had a total enrollment of 3,280 students attending at one of SBU's four Missouri campuses in Bolivar, Mountain View, Salem, or Springfield. History Abner S. Ingman and James R. Maupin founded Southwest Baptist College in 1878 in Lebanon, Missouri. The Lebanon campus originally had an enrollment of 60 students and six faculty. The college lasted one year before the city decided it no longer wanted it. When news got out that the college would be moving, the communities of Aurora, Monett, and Bolivar in southwest Missouri attempted to attract the college. Worlds of Fun is an entertainment complex with more than 235 acres located in Kansas City, Missouri. It is the largest amusement park and water park in the Midwest. Founded by American businessmen Lamar Hunt and Jack Steadman, the park opened in 1973 under the ownership of Hunt's company, Mid-America Enterprises. William Jewell College
William Jewell College is a private liberal arts college in Liberty, Missouri. It was founded in 1849 by members of the Missouri Baptist Convention and endowed with $10,000 by William Jewell.
