Super East Java Derby
Super East Java derby is the name given in football rivalries to any match between two Indonesian football clubs: Arema (Galatama) and Persebaya Surabaya (Perserikatan). The fierce competition between both teams began in 1992 when Arema and Persebaya Surabaya were grouped together in group A of 1992 Piala Utama (Premier Cup). Arema and Persebaya Surabaya were established on different era, at which Arema was formed in 1987, while Persebaya in 1927. Both teams have groups of fans who are equally well-known fanatics, namely '' Aremania'' (Arema) and ''Bonek'' (Persebaya Surabaya). Both fans have also been known for their psywar, conducted throughout the game, making the rivalrous match much awaited. Stadion Gelora Bung Tomo is a multi-purpose stadium in Benowo, Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. It is a part of the Surabaya Sports Center. Persema Malang
Persema, an acronym for Persatuan Sepakbola Malang is an Indonesian football club based in Malang, East Java. They currently compete in the Liga 3. History The club was officially established in 1953, with primary funding from Malang's municipal budget. It was part of the Indonesian Super League until January 2011 when they hosted LPI's inaugural match and stopped relying on public funds. The other local team, Arema FC, is one of the most successful clubs in ISL. The team's nickname is "Bledeg Biru" while its home stadium is Gajayana Stadium. Persema has never won a trophy during its years in the Indonesian Super League, mostly dwelling in the mid to bottom part of the table. Muhadjir Effendy (born 29 July 1956) is an Indonesian politician and Rector (academia), rector. He is the minister of education and culture of the Indonesia, Republic of Indonesia in the Working Cabinet (Joko Widodo), Working Cabinet. Virgiawan Listanto or better known as Iwan Fals (born September 3, 1961) is an Indonesian singer, songwriter and guitarist of Javanese descent. In 2002, ''Time'' named him as a Great Asian Hero. Early life Iwan was born Virgiawan Listanto in Jakarta, on September 3, 1961, to Harsoyo, a soldier, and Lies Suudijah. He studied at SMP Negeri 5 Bandung and SMAK BPK Bandung. Kanjuruhan Stadium Disaster
On 1 October 2022, a fatal human crush occurred following an association football match at Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang Regency, East Java, Indonesia. Following a loss by home side Arema to rivals Persebaya Surabaya, around 3,000 Arema supporters invaded the pitch. Police said the rioting supporters attacked the players and the team officials. The police attempted to protect the players and stop the riot but the crowds clashed with the security forces. In response, riot police units deployed tear gas, which triggered a stampede of people in the stadium trying to escape from the effects of the gas. A crush formed at an exit, resulting in fans being asphyxiated. As of 24 October, 135 people were killed, and 583 others were injured.
