Suntory Ladies Open
The Suntory Ladies Open is an annual golf tournament on the LPGA of Japan Tour. It is first played in 1990. The event is held in Hyogo, currently at the Rokko International Golf Club. The prize fund for 2021 was ¥150,000,000 with ¥27,000,000 going to the winner. Golf
Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. Golf, unlike most ball games, cannot and does not use a standardized playing area, and coping with the varied terrains encountered on different courses is a key part of the game. Marnie McGuire
Marnie McGuire (born 22 February 1969) is a former New Zealand professional golfer who played mostly on the LPGA of Japan Tour. McGuire won the British Ladies Amateur in 1986 as a 17-year-old and was at the time the youngest champion in the tournament's history. She was also the individual winner of the 1991 Queen Sirikit Cup. She played college golf at Oklahoma State where she was an All-American in 1990. While at Oklahoma State, she was diagnosed with malignant melanoma which led her to compete wearing long-sleeved shirts, a big floppy hat, and long slacks. McGuire won five times as a professional on the Japan Tour and was awarded the Sportswoman of the Year title at the 1996 Halberg Awards. She is the only New Zealander to have won the Women's Australian Open, and the British Ladies Amateur. She also played on the LPGA Tour from 1999 to 2003. Michiko Hattori ( ja, 服部道子, born 8 September 1968) is a Japanese professional golfer and former Player of the Year on the LPGA of Japan Tour. Before turning professional, she became the first Japanese born champion of the U.S. Women's Amateur. Amateur career Hattori was among the most decorated amateur and collegiate golfers in history.
