Sun Zhian
Sun Zhian (; born 1956) is a Chinese former badminton player and coach. He is the gold medalist in World Games in 1981 and a former World Champion. Early life and career Sun Zhian was born in 1956 in Suzhou, Jiangsu province. In 1970, 14-year-old Sun Zhian entered the junior high school of No. 32 Middle School in Suzhou. One day, Zhang Weidao, a physical education teacher, approached him and informed him that he was selected to go to Nanjing for a training camp. If he was qualified, he was expected to become a member of the Jiangsu badminton team. Sun started playing badminton at the age of 14 with no former training. In 1971, 14-year-old Sun Zhian became the youngest member of the first batch of players in the Jiangsu provincial badminton team after three months of intensive training and selection. Yu Yaodong
Yu Yaodong (; 1951–2012) was a badminton player from People's Republic of China. Career Yu Yaodong was born in 1951 in Dongguan, Guangdong. He entered the Guangzhou Amateur Sports School in 1961 then entered the Guangdong team in 1965 and was finally selected for the national team in 1972. At the second ever Badminton World Championships (first by World Badminton Federation) held in Thailand in 1978, Yaodong defeated his teammate Han Jian in the men's singles final and became the first ever badminton world champion in Chinese history. Later, he along with Hou Jiachang won the title of men's doubles World Champion as well. Luan Jin (; born 1958) is a retired male badminton player from China who rated among the world's best singles players in the early to mid-1980s after China gained entry into the International Badminton Federation (now Badminton World Federation). Zhang Jun (badminton)
Zhang Jun (; born November 26, 1977 in Suzhou, Jiangsu) is a former male badminton player from the People's Republic of China. He is now a coach with the Chinese national team following his retirement from international play. Career As a doubles specialist, the solidly built Zhang Jun won several international men's doubles titles with compatriot Zhang Wei including the Swiss (1998), China (2001), and Thailand (2005) Opens. However, the majority of his titles, and the most prestigious ones, came in mixed doubles with the formidable Gao Ling. Cai Yun (born 19 January 1980) is a former professional badminton player representing China. He is the 2012 London Olympic gold medallist and a four-time World Champion in men's doubles. Gu Jun (; born 3 January 1975) is a Chinese former badminton player. Career Gu and her regular partner Ge Fei were the world's dominant women's doubles team from the mid-1990s to their retirement after the 2000 Olympics. They won over thirty top tier international tournaments together, including two Olympic competitions and two IBF World Championships (which were then held biennially). Ge Fei (badminton)
Ge Fei (; born 9 October 1975) is a Chinese former badminton player who is one of the most successful doubles specialists in the sport's history. Among many international titles, Ge won two Olympic gold medals and two IBF World Championship gold medals in the women's doubles with her regular partner Gu Jun and a World Championship gold medal in the mixed doubles with Liu Yong.
