Studio Gang Architects
Studio Gang is an American architecture and urban design practice with offices in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Paris. Founded and led by architect Jeanne Gang, the Studio is known for its material research and experimentation, collaboration across a wide range of disciplines, and focus on sustainability. The firm's works range in scale and typology from the 82-story mixed-use Aqua Tower to the 10,000-square-foot Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership at Kalamazoo College to the 14-acre Nature Boardwalk at Lincoln Park Zoo. Studio Gang has won numerous awards for design excellence, including the 2016 Architizer A+ Firm of the Year Award and the 2013 National Design Award for Architecture from the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, as well as various awards from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and AIA Chicago. Aqua Tower
Aqua is an 82-story mixed-use skyscraper in Lakeshore East, downtown Chicago, Illinois. Designed by a team led by Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang Architects, with James Loewenberg of Loewenberg & Associates as the Architect of Record, it includes five levels of parking below ground. The building's eighty-story, base is topped by a terrace with gardens, gazebos, pools, hot tubs, a walking/running track and a fire pit. Each floor covers approximately . MIRA (originally called Folsom Bay Tower) is a 39-story, residential skyscraper under construction at 280 Spear Street in San Francisco, California. The tower is located on Block 1 of the San Francisco Transbay development plan at the northwest corner of Folsom and Spear Streets, near the Embarcadero. Developed by Tishman Speyer, the project is planned to contain 391 condominiums, with 156 designated below-market-rate, and is expected to be completed in 2020. Solstice on the Park is a residential building in Chicago designed by architect Jeanne Gang and completed in 2018 in the Hyde Park Community area. Development The building was originally designed in 2006 as condominium building, but economic conditions stalled construction. Revised plans for the building were approved in early 2016. Later that year, the developer announced construction would begin before 2017, and that tenants could begin living in the building as early as 2018. Work began in October. 40 Tenth Avenue (originally referred to as Solar Carve) is an office building in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan in New York City. The structure is adjacent to the High Line. Planning and development The building was first proposed in 2012, with designs released to the public then. Plans were later approved in 2014. Construction began in 2017 Advanced by Cauldwell Wingate Company and the project received $120 million in construction financing from Bank OZK in September 2017.
