Stuart Leach
Stuart Leach is a musician from Western Australia. Stuart Leach was originally the drummer in Carpet, a funk band formed by Leach's brother Simon (guitar) and fellow year-12 Hollywood Senior High School student, Joel Quartermain (guitar), in Perth, Western Australia. Simon Leach inviting a friend, Kavyen Temperley (bass, vocals), who he shared a rental house with, to join them. With Temperley on board, the band changed its name to Freud's Pillow, performing around Perth and Fremantle between 1995 and 1998. The band managed to release only one EP, ''Pleasure Puppy'' in August 1997, featuring a collection of songs Temperley had written as a teenager, one of the songs on the EP, "Mr Hoek", was written by Temperley’s friend Stuart MacLeod. The band disbanded in 1997 when Temperley and Quartermain together with MacLeod, won the National Campus Band's Competition as Eskimo Joe. Triple J (stylised in all lowercase) is a government-funded, national Australian radio station intended to appeal to listeners of alternative music, which began broadcasting in January 1975. The station also places a greater emphasis on broadcasting Australian content compared to commercial stations. Triple J is a division of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The Bank Holidays were an Australian indie pop band from Perth, which formed in 2003 as Tunnelball by Nat Carson (guitar, piano, vocals), James Crombie (bass guitar, vocals), Wibekke (Bekk) Reczek (guitar, vocals) and Ian (Stafford) Chater (drums). Late in 2007 Chater was replaced by Stuart Leach. They have issued two studio albums, ''As a Film'' (15 October 2007) and ''Sail Becomes a Kite'' (17 July 2010). By late 2012 they had effectively disbanded. Little Birdy
Little Birdy were an Australian alternative rock band formed in Perth, Western Australia, in 2002 by singer and guitarist Katy Steele, drummer Matt Chequer, guitarist and keyboardist Simon Leach, and bass guitarist Scott O'Donoghue. They gained public attention when their single "Relapse" gained popularity on alternative radio stations such as Triple J, leading them to be signed by the record label Eleven: A Music Company. They released three studio albums (all three of which entered the top ten in the ARIA charts), two EPs, and ten singles. Stuart MacLeod (musician)
Stuart Leslie MacLeod (born 10 April 1977) is the guitarist and backup singer of the Australian band, Eskimo Joe. He lives in Fremantle, Western Australia. When he was seven he lived next door to Kavyen Temperley and they have been best friends for years. MacLeod and Temperley attended John Curtin Senior High School together. MacLeod then went on to study Engineering and Commerce at the University of Western Australia. In 1997 MacLeod started jamming with Temperley, who was in a band, Freud's Pillow. MacLeod co-wrote several Freud's Pillow's songs. The pair decided to form a new band and auditioned a few drummers before settling on Joel Quartermain, who was a guitarist in Freud's Pillow, but had mentioned he also played drums. 78 Records was a music store located in the central business district of Perth, Western Australia. The store also sold DVDs, clothing and tickets to music and comedy events. Due to the history of the business, the large variety of music sold, and promotion of local acts, the store has had a significant influence upon local culture and the music scene within Perth History 78 Records first opened on 19 June 1971 on the first floor of the Padbury Building in Forrest Place. Geoff "Hud" Hudson, John Hood, and John "Scruff" McGregor started the store to provide music that was unavailable from other outlets. In its infancy, 78 Records boasted about 300 titles, all on vinyl and mainly imports, with a strong leaning towards blues but also encompassing an extensive range of other genres, though space was constrained as the store was housed in two small rooms.
