Store Kongensgade 62 is a listed property in central Copenhagen, Denmark. History Origins The site was in the late 17th century part of a larger property. This property was by 1689 as No. 130 in St. Ann's East Quarter owned by Hans Christoffersen Richter. In the new cadastre of 1756, it was listed as No. 241. It was by then owned by councilman Abraham Falch. In the new cadastre of 1806, the property was listed as No. 245. It was by then owned by ''Justitsråd'' Binck's widow. The current building on the site was constructed in 1807 by master mason and captain in the fire corps Georg Adam Gross (c.1748-1809). In 1810, it was acquired by the wealthy ship captain and merchant John Christmas. He owned it until his death in 1822. He was from 1813 also the owner of the country house Rolighed in Skodsborg. Bolette Cathrine Frederikke Puggaard née Hage (1798–1847) was a landscape painter of the Danish Golden Age, one of very few 19th-century Danish women whose art extended beyond flower paintings. She and her husband, the merchant and shipowner Hans Puggaard, are remembered for their philanthropic activities as well as supporting many of the painters of the Danish Golden Age. Biography Born on 7 February 1798 in Stege on the island of Møn, Bolette Cathrine Frederikke Hage was the daughter of the merchant Christopher Friedenreich Hage (1759–1849) and Christiane Arnette Just (1778–1866). Johan Christian Drewsen
Johan Christian Drewsen (23 December 1777 – 25 August 1851) was a Danish paper manufacturer, agronomist and politician. He owned Strandmøllen north of Copenhagen. Early life and education Srewsen was born at Strandmøllen, the son of paper manufacturer Christian Drewsen (1745–1810). His paternal family had come to Denmark from Hanover where they had been involved in manufacturing paper since 1692. Prominent cultural figures such as Knud Lyne Rahbek and Adam Oehlenschläger were frequent visitors to the home. The writer and translator Hans Guldberg Sveistrup was a house teacher. His friend, Conrad Malte-Brun, sought refuge at Strandmøllen when he had the flee the country in 1793. Rudolph Puggaard (7 January 1818 – 9 December 1885) was a Danish merchant, patron of the arts and philanthropist. Early life and education Puggaard was born into a family of merchants on 7 January 1818 in Copenhagen. His father, Hans Puggaard had founded H. Puggaard & Co. in 1813. His mother, Bolette Puggaard, née Hage, a painter, was the daughter of Christopher Friedrich Hage, a wealthy merchant from Stege on Møn. He graduated from Roskilde Cathedral School in 1837 and was then trained as a merchant in Hamburg and London. His younger brother was the geologist Christopher Puggaard. Career H. Puggaard & Co. Peter Frederik Steinmann (8 July 1812 – 16 February 1894) was a Danish officer and Minister of War (Denmark), Minister of War who served in the First Schleswig War, First and Second Schleswig War, Second Schleswig Wars. Early Years and Education Steinmann was a son of Lieutenant General and was born in Copenhagen on 8 July 1812. He entered military service in 1823 and in 1826, as an artillery cadet and in 1830, a second lieutenant in the artillery with the age order from 1826. Peter Martin Orla Lehmann (15 May 1810 – 13 September 1870) was a Danish statesman, a key figure in the development of Denmark's parliamentary government. He was born in Copenhagen, son of (1775–1856), assessor, later conference councillor () and deputy in the College of Commerce. His father was German, born in Haselau at Uetersen in Holstein, while his mother was Danish and the daughter of a mayor in Copenhagen. Edvard Philip Hother Hage (born 9 January 1816 in Stege, and deceased on 9 February 1873 in Møn) was a Danish politician and lawyer. Biography Hother Hage was the son of Christopher Friedenreich Hage and Arnette Christiane Just and was thus a member of one of the leading liberal families in Denmark. As a journalist, Hage was a regular contributor for the national liberal newspapers '' Fædrelandet'' and '' Dansk Folketidende''. Economically, he was a strong advocate of free trade.
