Stockholmsmässan
Stockholm International Fairs ( sv, Stockholmsmässan) is a large exhibition facility that arranges trade fairs in Stockholm, Sweden. History The idea of starting a trade fair in Stockholm started with brothers Börje and Folke Claeson in 1942. Initially, the Royal Tennis Hall (''Kungliga tennishallen'') was rented for this purpose. In 1964, the City of Stockholm and Stockholm Chamber of Commerce took over as owners and operators. The main building was constructed in 1971 in the Älvsjö suburb of Stockholm Municipality. Events The facility has hosted international congresses, seminars, general assemblies and musical events. Eurovision Song Contest 1975
The Eurovision Song Contest 1975 was the 20th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Stockholm, Sweden, following the country's victory at the with the song " Waterloo" by ABBA. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Sveriges Radio (SR), the contest was held at Stockholmsmässan on 22 March 1975, and was hosted by Swedish television director Karin Falck. It was the first time that the contest had taken place in Sweden. Nineteen countries participated in the contest, beating the previous record of eighteen, that was first set in the 1965 edition. France and Malta returned after their one-year and two-year absences, respectively. Turkey made its debut, while Greece decided not to enter after its debut the year prior. The winner of the contest was the Netherlands who won with the song "Ding-a-dong", performed by Teach-In, written by Will Luikinga and Eddy Ouwens, and composed by Dick Bakker. Älvsjö
Älvsjö () is a district of the city of Stockholm Municipality in Sweden, located in the borough Älvsjö in Söderort. It has the biggest rentable facility in northern Europe called Stockholm International Fairs, and also the hotel Scandic Talk Hotel, which both are located east of Älvsjö commuter train station. In 2017, the total population of the district was 1,530 inhabitants. The name was written ''Elffuesio'' in 1461. World Forum (The Hague)
The World Forum (originally known as Nederlands Congresgebouw and formerly Nederlands Congres Centrum and World Forum Convention Center) is a concert venue and convention centre in The Hague, Netherlands, near the buildings of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and one of the administrative offices of the International Baccalaureate. History It was opened in 1969 and was designed in the Dutch functionalism style by architect Jacobus Johannes Pieter Oud. His son, Hans Oud, completed the construction after his father's death in 1963. In 2006 a part of the convention center, including the ''Statenhal'', was demolished to make place for the Europol building. Brighton Dome
The Brighton Dome is an arts venue in Brighton, England, that contains the Concert Hall, the Corn Exchange and the Studio Theatre (formerly the Pavilion Theatre). All three venues are linked to the rest of the Royal Pavilion Estate by a tunnel to the Royal Pavilion in Pavilion Gardens and through shared corridors to Brighton Museum. History of the buildings The Concert Hall and Riding School (now the Corn Exchange) were built for the Prince Regent (later George IV) and work started in 1803 to the designs of William Porden. Concert Hall The Concert Hall was the Prince Regent's stables and held 44 horses in a circular stable arrangement with space for the groomsmen on the balcony level above. Kungliga Tennishallen
Kungliga tennishallen (English: Royal Tennis Hall) is a tennis venue at Lidingövägen 75 in Stockholm, Sweden. The stadium was built in October 1943 and has a capacity of 5,000. Kungliga tennishallen, now a hard-court surface, remains the venue for the men's Stockholm Open tournament which was first held in 1969. In 1975 the venue was the host of the year-end Masters tennis tournament as well as the Davis Cup final between Sweden and Czechoslovakia. Other activities The Volvo PV444/544 was launched at the Kungliga tennishallen in September 1944. It was the site on 15 April 1962 of the fight between former world heavyweight boxing champion Ingemar Johansson and Dutch champion Wim Snoek. Melodifestivalen (; literally "the Melody Festival") is an annual song competition organised by Swedish public broadcasters Sveriges Television (SVT) and Sveriges Radio (SR). It determines the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest, and has been staged almost every year since 1959. Sweden was represented by One More Time with the song "Den vilda" in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996. At the contest, held in Oslo, Norway, One More Time performed last of 23, following Slovakia. At the close of the voting it had received 100 points, placing 3rd behind winner Ireland and runner-up Norway. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1996 Melodifestivalen 1996 was the selection for the 36th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 35th time that this system of picking a song had been used. 1,323 songs were submitted to SVT for the competition. The final was held in the Victoriahallen in Stockholm on 24 February 1996, presented by Pontus GÃ¥rdinger and Siw Malmkvist and was broadcast on SVT1 and Sveriges Radio's P3 and P4 networks. Sweden was present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, held in Jerusalem. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1999 Melodifestivalen 1999 was the selection for the 39th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 38th time that this system of picking a song had been used. 1,315 songs were submitted to SVT for the competition, with ten songs selected to compete. The final was held in the Victoriahallen in Stockholm on 27 February 1999, presented by Anders Lundin and Vendela Kirsebom Thommesen, and was broadcast on SVT2 and Sveriges Radio's P4 network. The winner was chosen through a 50/50 jury/televoting method, which was Charlotte Nilsson with the song "Tusen och en natt", written by Gert Lengstrand and Lars Diedricsson. A trade fair, also known as trade show, trade exhibition, or trade exposition, is an exhibition organized so that companies in a specific industry can showcase and demonstrate their latest products and services, meet with industry partners and customers, study activities of rivals, and examine recent market trends and opportunities.
