Steve Bach
Stephen G. "Steve" Bach is an American politician who served as the mayor of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Elected in a runoff in May 2011, he was the city's first mayor under the new " strong mayor" form of government. In 2014, Bach announced he would not seek a second term as mayor. Early life and education Bach was born in Kansas and spent summers with family in Colorado, where he later returned to serve in the United States Army and graduated from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Career After graduation, Bach moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he conducted business for a few years before returning to Colorado Springs. He stated that moving away from Colorado Springs was "The hardest day of my life. I know what it’s like to leave." He succeeded in selling real estate in the community, and founded his own brokerage firm. Goodland, Kansas
Goodland is a city in and the county seat of Sherman County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 4,465. It was named after Goodland, Indiana. Goodland is home to Northwest Kansas Technical College. History One of the earliest pieces of recorded history relating to Goodland concerns the Kidder Massacre. On July 2, 1867, a detachment of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment (United States) was massacred; second lieutenant Lyman S. Kidder in command of the party, a sergeant, a corporal, eight privates and an Indian guide lost their lives. They were carrying dispatches for Lieutenant Colonel George Custer. Later, Custer found evidence of a running battle along Beaver Creek, which led to a ravine where the remains were found. They had been killed by Cheyenne and/or Sioux Indians. Pioneers Museum
The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum is located at 215 S. Tejon Street in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The granite building with a domed clock tower was the El Paso County Courthouse building from 1903 to 1973. The museum, which moved to this location in 1979, has fine arts, artifacts and archival collections that document the Pikes Peak region. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places, and was the 2nd property to be listed in El Paso County, after Pikes Peak. Located within Alamo Square Park the museum is also home to the Starsmore Center for Local History, a manuscript collection and research facility.
