Stephen Robertson (born 14 February 1962) is an Australian politician, he is a former member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland who represented the electoral district of Stretton for the Labor Party. He was the Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy and Minister for Trade in the cabinet of Premier Anna Bligh. A political faction is a group of individuals that share a common political purpose but differs in some respect to the rest of the entity. A faction within a group or political party may include fragmented sub-factions, "parties within a party," which may be referred to as power blocs, or voting blocs. Sunnybank was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1992 to 2001, and again from 2009 to 2017. The district was based in the area of southern suburbs of Brisbane previously named as the suburb of Sunnybank before Sunnybank was broken up into smaller suburbs. It was first created for the 1992 state election only to be abolished ahead of the 2001 state election, essentially replaced by the new district of Stretton. 1992 Queensland State Election
Elections were held in the Australian state of Queensland on 19 September 1992 to elect the 89 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. The Labor Party led by Wayne Goss was reelected for a second term with a strong majority government. The election effectively confirmed the status quo, although the ALP lost a small percentage of votes and four seats. Three of those were new seats which were nominally Labor following the redistribution. This was the first election in many decades in which a zonal system of electoral representation did not exist.
