The State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) is an association of 93 institutions, conferences, organizations, and individuals that organizes the athletic programs of different state colleges and universities in the Philippines. SCUAA is one of the inter-collegiate sports associations in the Philippines, the union of seven major state colleges and universities in Metro Manila. History The organization was established as State Colleges Athletic Association (SCAA) in 1953 encompassing the Philippine Normal College, Central Luzon Agricultural College, the Philippine College of Commerce, and the Philippine College of Arts and Trade. Bacnotan, La Union
Bacnotan, officially the Municipality of Bacnotan ( ilo, Ili ti Bacnotan; fil, Bayan ng Bacnotan), is a 1st class municipality in the province of La Union, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 44,388 people. Economic activities in Bacnotan mostly involve farming, fishing, bee-keeping, pebble extraction, tourism, and Portland cement manufacture. Bacnotan is the seat of the beekeeping industry in La Union. A mining engineer from Bacnotan who saw the limestone deposits in Dumarang (renamed Quirino) also saw deposits of coal and traces of gas. The Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU ; fil, Pang-alaalang Pamantasang Pampamahalaang Don Mariano Marcos) is the state university system serving the province of La Union in the Philippines. Its main autonomous unit is in Bacnotan. It was created by former president Ferdinand Marcos by using Presidential Decree 1778 to combine a number of state-run schools in La Union into a single state college in 1981.
