Star FM Zimbabwe
Star FM is a commercial urban radio station that broadcasts throughout Zimbabwe from the country's capital, Harare. It first aired in June 2012 and is owned by Zimbabwe Newspapers, which owns Bulawayo's '' The Chronicle'', Harare's '' The Herald'' and several other regional publications. Zimpapers also owns a number of regional commercial radio stations including Diamond FM in Mutare, Nyaminyami FM in Kariba and Capitalk 100.4 FM in the capital Harare. In May 2018, Zimpapers was awarded a content distribution licence by the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe and went on to launch Zimpapers Television (ZTN) which has been broadcasting online since launch. Harare
Harare (; formerly Salisbury ) is the capital and most populous city of Zimbabwe. The city proper has an area of 940 km2 (371 mi2) and a population of 2.12 million in the 2012 census and an estimated 3.12 million in its metropolitan area in 2019. Situated in north-eastern Zimbabwe in the country's Mashonaland region, Harare is a metropolitan province, which also incorporates the municipalities of Chitungwiza and Epworth. ZiFM Stereo
ZiFM Stereo is a Zimbabwean private commercial radio station that is based in the country's capital, Harare. It broadcasts throughout the country on FM. It began broadcasting on 15 August 2012. It is Zimbabwe's first free to air radio station to stream online. It is also known to be the country's first privately owned radio station. It was launched just months after the launch of the state owned Star FM, which started broadcasting on 25 June of the same year. ZiFM took part in the historical tribute to the veteran Zimbabwean broadcaster, Peter Johns who died in London on 27 April 2020. The hour-long multicast that took place on 2 May 2020 was also streamed live on Power FM and Star FM. Kariba, Zimbabwe
Kariba is a resort town in Mashonaland West province, Zimbabwe, located close to the Kariba Dam at the north-eastern end of Lake Kariba, near the Zambian border. According to the 2022 Population Census, the town had a population of 27,600. Located in the Zambezi Valley, Kariba is well known for its balmy climate and proximity to Lake Kariba, that draws in thousands of tourists all year round. ''The Herald'' is a state-owned daily newspaper published in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. History Origins The newspaper's origins date back to the 19th century. Its forerunner was launched on 27 June 1891 by William Fairbridge for the Argus group of South Africa. Named the ''Mashonaland Herald and Zambesian Times'', it was a weekly, hand-written news sheet produced using the cyclostyle duplicating process. ''The Chronicle'' is a popular daily newspaper in Zimbabwe. It is published in Bulawayo and mostly reports on news in the Matebeleland region in the southern part of the country. It is state-owned and therefore usually only publishes news that supports the government and its policies. It also covers stories on national and international news, as well as entertainment, sport, business, travel, job offers and real estate. The Independent
''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the ''Indy'', it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition.
