Stanley A. Milner Library
The Stanley A. Milner Library is the flagship branch of the Edmonton Public Library. It is located on the southern side of Sir Winston Churchill Square in the downtown core of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The main library is near walking distance to the City Hall, the Edmonton City Centre mall, the Francis Winspear Centre for Music, and the Citadel Theatre. In January 2017, the library closed its doors for a major renovation, as all but the basic structure was removed to be rebuilt with an architectural design similar to that of the Art Gallery of Alberta located a few blocks away. Its services were relocated to a temporary space on Jasper Avenue in Enterprise Square. The new Stanley A. Milner Library, along with the new Shelley Milner Children's Library opened on September 17, 2020. The building is directly connected to the underground pedway network and to Edmonton's LRT. Andrew Carnegie
Andrew Carnegie (, ; November 25, 1835August 11, 1919) was a Scottish-American industrialist and philanthropist. Carnegie led the expansion of the American steel industry in the late 19th century and became one of the richest Americans in history. He became a leading philanthropist in the United States, Great Britain, and the British Empire. During the last 18 years of his life, he gave away around $350 million (roughly $ billion in ), almost 90 percent of his fortune, to charities, foundations and universities. His 1889 article proclaiming " The Gospel of Wealth" called on the rich to use their wealth to improve society, expressed support for progressive taxation and an estate tax, and stimulated a wave of philanthropy. Valley Line (Edmonton)
The Valley Line is a future , low-floor urban light rail line in Edmonton, Alberta, currently under construction. It will be part of the Edmonton Light Rail Transit. It will run southeast to west from Mill Woods to Lewis Farms, crossing through downtown. The line will be constructed in phases, with phase 1 being the , 12-station portion between Mill Woods and 102 Street (Downtown) allowing passengers to connect with the Capital Line and Metro Line at Churchill station. Churchill LRT Station
Churchill station is an Edmonton Light Rail Transit station in Edmonton, Alberta. It serves both the Capital Line and the Metro Line. It is an underground station located beneath Churchill Square and is a part of the Edmonton Pedway system. An at-grade surface platform is currently under construction above the existing station at Rue Hull (99 Street) and 102 Avenue, and was scheduled to open in 2020; however, as of December 2022 the Valley Line had not opened and no definite opening date had been announced. The new platform will facilitate transfers between the Metro and Capital lines below grade, and the Valley Line and Festival Line at the surface level. ATB Place
ATB Place, formerly Telus Plaza, is an office complex in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Originally built as the headquarters of Alberta Government Telephones (AGT), the two office towers in the complex–ATB Place Tower and TELUS house– serve as the headquarters of ATB Financial and the Alberta provincial headquarters for Telus, respectively. The south tower, TELUS House (formerly TELUS Plaza South, and originally the AGT Tower (Alberta Government Telephones Tower)), was completed in 1971, at a cost of Can$22 million.
