Churchill LRT Station
Churchill station is an Edmonton Light Rail Transit station in Edmonton, Alberta. It serves both the Capital Line and the Metro Line. It is an underground station located beneath Churchill Square and is a part of the Edmonton Pedway system. An at-grade surface platform is currently under construction above the existing station at Rue Hull (99 Street) and 102 Avenue, and was scheduled to open in 2020; however, as of December 2022 the Valley Line had not opened and no definite opening date had been announced. The new platform will facilitate transfers between the Metro and Capital lines below grade, and the Valley Line and Festival Line at the surface level. By 2040 Churchill LRT Station is expected to be one of the major hubs of the Edmonton LRT system, with four out of the five lines currently approved by the City passing through the station. The Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) is an art museum in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The museum occupies a building at Churchill Square in downtown Edmonton. The museum building was originally designed by Donald G. Bittorf, and B. James Wensley, although portions of that structure were demolished or built over during a redevelopment of the building by Randall Stout. The art museum was established in 1924 as the Edmonton Museum of Arts. In 1956 the museum was renamed the Edmonton Art Gallery. The museum occupied a number of location from its establishment in 1924 to 1969. The museum was relocated to its present location and reopened to the public in 1969 at the Brutalist Arthur Blow Condell building. In 2005, the museum was renamed Art Gallery of Alberta. The Edmonton Convention Centre (ECC, formerly the Shaw Conference Centre), is a meeting, entertainment, and convention venue located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Royal Alberta Museum (RAM) is a museum of human and natural history in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The museum is located in Downtown Edmonton, north of City Hall. The museum is the largest in western Canada with more than exhibition space and in total. The museum was established by the Government of Alberta in December 1967 as the Provincial Museum of Alberta. The museum received royal patronage from Queen Elizabeth II, and was renamed the Royal Alberta Museum in 2005. In 2011, plans were announced to move the museum to a new building. The museums continued to operate from its original building in Glenora, Edmonton until it was closed to the public in December 2015. Edmonton City Centre is a shopping mall in the downtown core of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, across the street (west) from Churchill Square. History In 1974, the City Centre Place office tower (Oxford Tower) was completed within the larger Edmonton Centre development; TD Tower was added in 1976.
