Stan Le Lievre
Stan Le Lievre (31 July 1920 – 18 March 2003) was an Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Career Le Lievre came from Katandra and had a stint with the St Kilda seconds in 1940, before joining the senior list in 1945. He made 12 appearances for St Kilda in the 1945 VFL season, as a centre half-forward. Before the 1946 season began, St Kilda lost the services of full-back Ken Walker, who left to coach Burnie. This meant Le Lievre was tried at full-back, when he played his first game of the season in round eight. He lost his place in the team after two games, before he returned in round 17 and played in the final three rounds. In the opening round of the 1947 VFL season, Le Lievre was reported for "hacking" (forcing an opponent off balance by taking out his feet). Katandra Football Club
The Katandra Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Kats'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the small Victorian town of Katandra West. The club teams currently compete in the Picola & District Football League. History After much talk in the district for many years the Katandra Football club was founded in 1911. Their first opponents were Rockville and Pine Grove. Reforming after World War I in the 1922 the club played in a small local association centered around Dookie. The small completion lasted until the height of the depression before taking a break for a few years. In 1936 the reformed to play in a competition with the small towns around Shepparton until the outbreak of World War II. The Southern Football Netball League is an Australian rules football league, based in the south and south eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, for both seniors and juniors. History The ''South East Suburban Football League'' was formed in 1963 as a merger of the Caulfield Oakleigh District Football League with the East Suburban Football League after a number of its clubs moved to the Croydon Ferntree Gully FL (now Eastern Football League (Australia), Eastern Football League). When the Federal Football League folded at the end of 1981, the SESFL had twenty clubs. After the addition of all but one of the Federal clubs for 1982, the league had a 16 team A grade, and a 12 team B grade competition. The league twice tried 3 divisions but the idea was later dropped as clubs left or folded. The Oakleigh District Football Club is a semi-professional Australian rules football club in the southern suburbs of Melbourne. The club currently participates in Division 3 of the Eastern Football Netball League. History Late in 1949 a meeting was held in Oakleigh Mechanics Institute Hall in Drummond Street Oakleigh to solve the problem of having no open age side to for all mature players to continue on their careers. The only open age side in Oakleigh area besides the Oakleigh (VFA) club was Oakleigh United but they had just disbanded. The club had left 50 pounds to any club starting up an open age side. Oakleigh District Football Club was formed and accepted into the Caulfield-Oakleigh District Football League. Oakleigh (VFA) was asked for assistance but they gave none. The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). Oakleigh Football Club
Oakleigh Football Club, nicknamed the Devils, was an Australian rules football club from Oakleigh which played in the VFA from 1929 until 1994. Oakleigh wore purple guernseys with a gold monogram thus giving them their original nickname the Purple and Golds. Fred Fanning
Fred Fanning (5 November 1921 – 23 May 1993) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL) who holds the record for most goals in a VFL/AFL match, with 18. VFL career Hailing from the Victorian Football Association (VFA) club Coburg, Fanning was a strongly built forward standing at 193 cm and weighing 102 kg. In September 1939, playing for Melbourne Seconds against Richmond in the Seconds' Grand Final, Fanning kicked 12 goals in a 29-point victory. Fanning made his senior debut in 1940 and played in that year's Grand Final victory over Richmond. He topped the VFL's goalkicking charts in 1943 (62 goals), 1944 (87) and 1945 (67), a year in which he also won Melbourne's best and fairest award.
