Whole Note
A whole note (American) or semibreve (British) in musical notation is a single note equivalent to or lasting as long as two half notes or four quarter notes. Description The whole note or semibreve has a note head in the shape of a hollow oval—like a half note (or ''minim'')—but with no note stem (see Figure 1). Since it is equal to four quarter notes, it occupies the entire length of a measure in time. Other notes are multiples or fractions of the whole note. For example, a double whole note (or ''breve'') lasts twice the duration of the whole note, a half note lasts one half the duration, and a quarter note (or ''crotchet'') lasts one quarter the duration. A related symbol is the whole rest (or semibreve rest), which signifies a rest for the duration of a whole note. In Western culture, Western music theory, a major second (sometimes also called whole tone or a whole step) is a second spanning two semitones (). A second is a interval (music), musical interval encompassing two adjacent staff positions (see Interval number for more details). Pedro The Lion
Pedro the Lion is an American indie rock band from Seattle, Washington, United States. David Bazan formed the band in 1995 and represented its main creative force, backed by a varying rotation of collaborating musicians. In 2006 Pedro the Lion was dissolved as Bazan went solo; Bazan reformed the band and resumed performing under the Pedro the Lion moniker in late 2017. Releasing five full-length albums and five EPs over 11 years, the band is known for its first person narrative lyrics with political and religious themes. History Pedro the Lion was formed by David Bazan in 1995. The name of the band comes from a character that would have been interwoven into the band's first album. ''Colourmeinkindness'' is the second studio album by English rock band Basement. Background Basement formed in Ipswich in 2010, signing to independent label Run for Cover in August of that year. The band released their debut album, ''I Wish I Could Stay Here'', in July 2011. The group then toured across the UK several times, as well as tour the US and Australia. Composition and production Compared to their past releases, guitarist Alex Henery called the process for ''Colourmeinkindness'' "the most chaotic process we have ever gone about writing a record." The band members would write parts and sent them over email to each other, and exchanges ideas on the parts. ''Through the Eyes'' is the first major label studio album by the American rock band Flaw. The album was released on October 30, 2001 on Universal, Uptown and Republic Records. Described as nu metal, ''Through the Eyes'' has melodic vocals, aggressive guitar riffs, screaming, melodic instrumentation and lyrics drawn from the childhood and adolescence of vocalist Chris Volz, who dealt with his adoptive mother's suicide, rebellious behavior and a formerly troubled relationship with his father. #IAMWHOLE is a British anti-stigma mental health campaign developed in partnership with the NHS and YMCA. It first launched in 2016 and is fronted by one half of Rizzle Kicks, Jordan Stephens. History In 2016, Spirit Media, the NHS and YMCA developed the #IAMWHOLE campaign for Brighton & Hove City Council. The idea for the campaign was inspired by Jordan Stephens’ track ‘Whole’, for which Spirit Media was filming the music video at the time. 2016 saw the launch of the campaign on World Mental Health Day at Brighton’s British Airways i360 tower. The day also saw then Secretary of State for Health Jeremy Hunt visit a local school to meet pupils and discuss mental health with them. ''Whole'' is a documentary about people with a body integrity identity disorder, that makes them desire to be an amputee (medical term: apotemnophilia). It first was broadcast on the Sundance Channel in 2004. Synopsis The documentary examines the lives of several individuals who have body integrity identity disorder. They believe that they are supposed to have a sensory or physical disability, with some amputating a limb in order to achieve this. Some of the individuals are identified using their whole name, while others give only their first. Referring to themselves as ″amputee wannabees″, the individuals portrayed by Gilbert find different ways of coping with their apotemnophilia.
