Speicher (Eifel)
Speicher is a town in the county of Bitburg-Prüm, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated in the Eifel, on the river Kyll, approximately 10 km south-east of Bitburg and 29 km north of Trier. It has 3,624 inhabitants (Dec. 2020) and is next to the Spangdahlem Air Base which is home of the 52d Fighter Wing. There is a small monument to the men who died in the World War I, First and World War II, Second World Wars at the western end of the town. East of the monument is an open area for shopping and other events. Directly to the south is the parish church of St. Philip and St. James. Transport Roads There is a direct link from Speicher to Beilingen, Preist, Dudeldorf, Herforst, and Trier. Most of the roads in Speicher are paved. Bitburg-Prüm
The Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm ( lb, Äifelkrees Béibreg-Prüm) is a district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is bounded by (from the west and clockwise) Luxembourg, Belgium and the districts of Euskirchen, Vulkaneifel, Bernkastel-Wittlich and Trier-Saarburg. History There are three different historical regions: the abbey and the city of Prüm have been directly subordinate to the Holy Roman Emperor in medieval times; later the free city became the principality of Prüm, occupying large portions in the north. The southwest including the town of Bitburg was a part of the Duchy of Luxemburg from the 10th to the 15th century. Later it was a part of the Seventeen Provinces and hence under Spanish and then Austrian rule. After the Napoleonic Wars the region was handed over to Prussia. Joscha Remus
Joscha Remus is a German author. Remus comes from a bukovinish- Moselle Franconian family. He studied biology, German and philosophy in Trier and Berlin. After traveling abroad and then working on a medical journal, he trained in Berlin, Rome and London where he worked as a children's physiotherapist developing methods of "motor intelligence". In the nineties Joscha Remus began publishing books, travel guides, and prose. It was during a training program for sound engineering at Thorolf Dormer in Berlin that he decided to create a travel audio book series. Since 2006 he has traveled extensively and written and produced several books in an Audio Travel Feature format for the Headroom publishing company in Cologne. In 2010 his series of travel audio books won the German Book Award. In addition to his work as an author, Joscha Remus works as a science and travel journalist. A Verbandsgemeinde (; plural Verbandsgemeinden) is a low-level administrative unit in the German federal states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony-Anhalt. A Verbandsgemeinde is typically composed of a small group of villages or towns. Nordic walking is a Finnish-origin total-body version of walking that can be done both by non-athletes as a health-promoting physical activity and by athletes as a sport.
