{{unreferenced, date=April 2022 The Southside Slayer was a collective epithet used by the media and police to what was initially believed to be a single serial killer who killed upwards of a hundred predominantly black prostitutes in the Los Angeles area from the 1980s to the 1990s. It later turned out that the killings were committed by several different, unrelated murderers who coincidentally operated in the same area and timeframe. Louis Craine (January 6, 1957 – November 3, 1989) was an American serial killer who committed at least four rape-murders in South Los Angeles, in the period between 1985 and 1987. He was convicted for these crimes in 1989, and was sentenced to death. It was later determined that at least five other serial killers operated in the area during the 1980s and 1990s (collectively known as The Southside Slayers), Craine was suspected of several more murders by police. Ivan Hill
Ivan Jerome Hill (born March 30, 1961), also known by his nickname The 60 Freeway Killer, is an American serial killer who raped and murdered at least eight women in Los Angeles between 1986 and 1994. Hill dumped his victims' corpses along the East-West Highway, known as " California State Route 60", contributing to his nickname. Hill was captured based on DNA profiling nearly a decade after his last murder and was sentenced to death in 2007. Hughes was initially sentenced to life without parole for the murders of four women and girls in California. Chester Turner
Chester Dewayne Turner (born November 5, 1966) is an American serial killer and sex offender who was sentenced to death for sexually assaulting and murdering fourteen women in Los Angeles between 1987 and 1998. Turner spent much of his adult life homeless prior to his capture. He spent some time in prison for unrelated crimes during his murder spree. In 2002, Turner was sentenced to eight years in prison for raping a woman earlier that year. While incarcerated, DNA analysis implicated Turner in numerous unsolved murders and rapes. Freeway Killer

The Southside Strangler is the media epithet given by the media, and later used by law enforcement, to a serial killer active in the South Side of Chicago from the 1990s and 2000s, responsible for the murders of numerous girls and young women. It would later be established that the killings were committed by different offenders, including several different serial killers.
