Soundfly
Soundfly is an online music education platform based in Brooklyn, New York. They offer online music courses and mentorship sessions as well as hosting a bi-weekly podcast, ''Themes and Variation'', and a daily blog, ''Flypaper''. The company was founded in 2015 by Ian Temple. Courses In 2022, Soundfly has released courses on designing sample-based instruments with Son Lux's Ryan Lott, retrofuturistic, synth-based electronic music production with Com Truise, and rhythmic creativity with producer Jlin. Previously, in November 2021, Soundfly released a piano course covering music theory, improvisation, and beat making with pianist and producer Kiefer. Earlier that year, the company released a course on sampling and arranging with DJ and producer RJD2, which was filmed by RJD2 himself during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, and a course on vocal songwriting and production with pop singer Kimbra. Kiefer (musician)
Kiefer is a Grammy Award-winning American pianist and producer based in Los Angeles, California. Biography Born in 1992 in San Diego, Kiefer started playing piano around age six, and was first introduced to jazz by his father. Growing up, he took classical and jazz lessons, and by his teens was an adept soloist and began experimenting with producing his own computer-based hip-hop and electronic beats. After high school, he moved to Los Angeles and enrolled in UCLA’s Jazz Studies program, where he was mentored by renowned jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell, flautist James Newton and pianist Tamir Hendelman. It was at the institution where he experimented jazz composition and live improvisation with programmed electronic beats. Ryan Lott
Ryan Lott (born 1979) is an American musician. He founded the band Son Lux which has released five albums and four EPs. The band's most recent album ''Brighter Wounds'' appeared in February 2018, the preceding album ''Remedy'' appeared in May 2017. He is also a member of Sisyphus (hip hop group), Sisyphus and has scored the soundtracks for a number of films, most notably ''Everything Everywhere All at Once'' (2022), ''Mean Dreams'' (2017), ''Paper Towns (film), Paper Towns'' (2015), and ''The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby'' (2013). Ramble Jon Krohn (born May 27, 1976), better known by his stage name RJD2, is an American musician based in Columbus, Ohio. He is the owner of record label RJ's Electrical Connections. He has been a member of groups such as Soul Position, MHz Legacy, and Icebird. His stage name derives from the popular ''Star Wars'' droid R2-D2. Seth Haley, known by his stage name Com Truise, is an American electronic musician. His stage name is a spoonerism of the name of American actor Tom Cruise. Biography Prior to 2010, Com Truise had released music under the pseudonyms Sarin Sunday, SYSTM, and Airliner. In 2010, the first Com Truise recording, the ''Cyanide Sisters'' EP, was released. Jerrilynn Patton (born July 30, 1987), known as Jlin, is an electronic musician. She began producing music in 2008 and received early attention for her 2011 track "Erotic Heat". Jlin's debut album, ''Dark Energy'', was released in 2015 to critical praise. Her follow-up ''Black Origami'' (2017) received further acclaim. Biography Patton was raised in Gary, Indiana.
