Sonnerupgaard
Sonnerupgaard is a manor house and estate in Lejre Municipality, Denmark. History Early history The name Sonnerupgaard is first recorded in 1341 when it was owned by Niels Pedersen. It was later passed down to his son and grand daughter. Peder Bild acquired the estate in the middle of the 16th century. After his death in 1566, Sonnerupgaard was passed on to Christoffer Bild. The estate was later in the century owned by Jakob Trolle and then by his widow Mette Jakobsdatter Høg Banner. By 1621, Sonnerupgaard had been acquired by Manderup Parsberg. He was one of the great landowners of his time and had acquired much of his property through his marriages. His widow Anne Brahe kept the estate after his death in 1625. After her death in 1633, Sonnerupgaard was endowed to her brother Otte Brahe who sold it to Jørgen Urne later that same year. Irne and his wife were also the owners of Alslev, Nær and Knudseje. Severin De Junge
Severin de Junge (28 November 1680 - 14 October 1757) was a Danish government official, Supreme Court justice and director of the Danish West India Company. During his time this was Denmark–Norway. He was on 6 April 1731 ennobled under the name de Junge. He owned Sonnerupgaard and Skullerupgård but economic difficulties forced him to sell both estates in the second half of the 1740s. Early life and education Junge was the son of War Commissioner and ''kammerråd'' Emanuel de June (1644–1692) and Bodil Sørensdatter Hiort (c. 1650–1724). He was appointed ''hofjunker'' in 1701 and the following year studied at Oxford University. Peder Bild
Peder Bild (died before or in 1566) was a Danish landowner and lensmann. He owned Sonnerupgaard and was lensmann of a number of fiefs in Denmark and Norway. He was the son of privy counsellor Niels Bold of Ravnholt (died 1540) and Beate Eggertsdatter Ulfeldt (died 1555). He was the brother of Evert Bild. Bild spent a few years as a courtier in an early age. He was lensmann of Riberhus in 1554–57, Odensegård in 1557–59. In 1559, he was granted the fiefs of Bratsberg and Gimsø kloster in Norway. Hvalsø
Hvalsø is a town and a former municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Sjælland on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in east Denmark. The former municipality covered an area of 72 km2, and had a total population of 7,856 (2005). Its last mayor was Virginia Holst, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. Lejre Municipality
Lejre Municipality is a municipality in Region Zealand. The current municipality was established on 1 January 2007 as a result of Municipalities of Denmark#Municipal Reform 2007, ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), merging the former Lejre Municipality (1970–2006), Lejre Municipality with Bramsnæs, Bramsnæs Municipality and Hvalsø, Hvalsø Municipality to form a new Lejre Municipality. 28 September 2016 Carsten Rasmussen took over as mayor from Mette Touborg, who was leaving for a new job. Manderup Parsberg
Manderup Parsberg (24 December 1546 – 11 November 1625) was a Danish nobleman and politician who was member of the Royal Privy Council to King Christian IV of Denmark. Student life As a student at the University of Rostock, he participated in a duel against his third cousin, Tycho Brahe in which he cut off most of his nose. The two later became good friends, and Parsberg married Tycho's distant cousin Anne Pedersdatter Brahe (1578–1633). Parsberg was lord to Hagesholm. Politician and diplomat Manderup Parsberg, Henrik Below and Nicolaus Theophilus were appointed ambassadors to Scotland in 1585 and arrived in June. James VI appointed Sir James Melville of Halhill, William Schaw, and the Laird of Segie to be companions to the Danish ambassadors. Melville described the events of the embassy. Christian V Of Denmark
Christian V (15 April 1646 25 August 1699) was king of Denmark and Norway from 1670 until his death in 1699. Well-regarded by the common people, he was the first king anointed at Frederiksborg Castle chapel as absolute monarch since the decree that institutionalized the supremacy of the king in Denmark-Norway. Christian fortified the absolutist system against the aristocracy by accelerating his father's practice of allowing both Holstein nobles and Danish and Norwegian commoners into state service. As king, he wanted to show his power as absolute monarch through architecture, and dreamed of a Danish Versailles. Danish Code
Danske Lov (''English'': Danish Code) is the title of a Danish statute book from 1683 that previously formed the basis for the Danish legislation. Even though it was mainly a compilation of older, regional laws, it took seven different commissions over several decades under two different monarchs to put the Code together. In 1687, Norway received its Norwegian Code, which in form and content is about identical to the Danish Code. The Danish Code has been translated into English, Latin, German and Russian. The statute should be viewed in connection with the European traditions of justice, which since the 12th century has moved towards an assembly of different practices. This tradition was encouraged by the Catholic Church. The majority of the statute has now been superseded by newer laws. Ringsted Abbey
Ringsted Abbey (''Ringsted Kloster'') was one of the earliest and most influential Benedictine houses in Denmark, active from the late 11th-century until the Danish Reformation. It was located at Ringsted on the Danish island of Zealand. History The first Ringsted Abbey Ringsted was one of Denmark's earliest towns and in Viking times a center for worship. The town had a royal mint in 1020 and a Benedictine priory was established by King Sven Estridsen before his death in 1076, but not completed until 1081 or 1082 under Svend Norbagge, Bishop of Roskilde. It was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The first priory church was constructed out of limestone. According to tradition the monks were brought by the king from one of his campaigns in Britain.
