Somerset Rebels
The Somerset Rebels were a British speedway team based in Highbridge, Somerset. Founded in 2000, the club competed in the British SGB Championship until 2019. Their home track was located at the Oak Tree Arena. History The club's stadium, The Oak Tree Arena, was a purpose-built speedway stadium ready for the 2000 season. The club entered the Conference League (division 3) on foundation and finished 3rd in their inaugural 2000 Speedway Conference League season. After winning both the Conference Trophy and Conference League KO Cup in 2001 they moved up to the Premier League (division 2) in 2002. After establishing themselves in the Premier League the club won their first trophy in the division after winning the Premier League Fours Championship at Workington in 2005. Jason Doyle
Jason Kevin Doyle (born 6 October 1985) is an Australian motorcycle speedway rider. He became World Champion in 2017. He won the 2015 Australian Solo Championship. He has also won the South Australian Championship in 2014, and the Elite League Riders' Championship and the Master of Speedway meeting in Germany in 2015. Doyle is a member of the Australia national speedway team and represented his country in the Speedway World Cup. He is also the 2016, 2017, 2019 Czech Republic Grand Prix winner, taking his maiden victory on 26 June 2016, at Prague's Markéta Stadium. Oaktree Arena
The Oaktree Arena was a speedway racing track located near Highbridge, Somerset, England, and is built alongside the M5 motorway. The track, which was constructed by Australian rider Glyn Taylor, is in length, with banking around the edge for spectators. There is also a restaurant which can be hired for weddings and events. The United States national speedway team are an international speedway team from the United States who compete in the annual major international speedway competitions including the Speedway World Cup and Speedway of Nations and the former events the Speedway World Team Cup and the Speedway World Pairs Championship. Poole Pirates (also known as Poole Speedway) are a motorcycle speedway team based in Poole, England, competing in the SGB Championship. The club have been the champions of the United Kingdom on ten occasions. Poole Speedway is promoted by local businessman Matt Ford and son Danny Ford, who took over promoting rights of the club in 1998. Elite League (speedway)
The Elite League was the top division of speedway league competition in the United Kingdom, governed by the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB), in conjunction with the British Speedway Promoters' Association (BSPA). It was sponsored by Sky Sports until the end of the 2013 season. In 2016, the Elite League featured 8 teams, unlike 10 in 2014, during a season which ran between March and October. King's Lynn Stars
King's Lynn Stars are a motorcycle speedway team who compete in the SGB Premiership. The nickname "Stars" comes from the defunct Norwich Stars team. The team was founded in 1965 and has been running continually since then, except for 1996 when King's Lynn failed to have a team competing in the British league system. History 1966–1995 The team's inaugural season was the 1966 British League season, where they finished 16th. They managed to finish in third place during the 1972 and 1973 seasons with their strongest riders being Terry Betts and Malcolm Simmons. The first silverware won by the team was the Knockout Cup in 1977. They won the final by the small margin of two points on aggregate, thanks largely to Michael Lee and Betts.
