Solbjerg Church
Solbjerg Church (Danish: Solbjerg Kirke) is a church in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located at 34 Howitzvej, just north of Frederiksberg Gardens, and is one of 16 churches which have been designated for closure by the Diocese of Copenhagen. History Solbjerg Church was designed by Kristoffer Varming and built from 1907 to 1908. The area was still relatively open at that time. In 1921, the church was joined by a new police station and a courthouse. In 1980, the interior was hit by fire. In 2011, the governing body (''Stiftsrådet'') of the Diocese of Copenhagen listed it as one of 16 churches which were designated for closure. Architecture The church is constructed in red brick. The Diocese of Copenhagen (Danish: ''Københavns Stift'') is a diocese within the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Denmark. The Bishop of Copenhagen is currently Peter Skov-Jakobsen, who replaced Erik Normann Svendsen in 2009. Peter Skov-Jakobsen
Peter Henrik Skov-Jakobsen (born 22 February 1959 in Korup, Denmark) is a Danish bishop and theologian. Since 2009 he has been the sixth bishop of the Diocese of Copenhagen and consequently the '' primus inter pares'' of the Church of Denmark. Education Skov-Jakobsen graduated from St. Canute High School in Odense in 1979, which was followed by two years of study in German. In 1992 he completed a Masters of Arts in Theological Understanding of Industrial Society at the University of Hull. This happened while he was studying theology at the University of Copenhagen. In July 1993, after completion of his studies, he became a Cand.theol. Priesthood Between October 1988 and August 1993, Skov-Jakobsen worked as an assistant at the Seaman's Mission in the English city of Kingston upon Hull. Howitzvej
Howitzvej is a street in Frederiksberg, a municipality surrounded by Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from Falkoner Allé in the east to Nordre Fasanvej where it turns into Finsensvej before the name changes again to Jernbane Allé on the border with Vanløse. History Howitzvej and its continuation Finsensvej was established in about 1755 and was first referred to as"The Road to the Numbers" (''Vejen til numrene'') with a reference to a series of numbered lots. The road became known as Lampevej (Lamp Road) from about 1860. The new name referred to one of the first outdoor street lamps in Copenhagen which was situated outside a midwife's practice to make it easier for customers to find their way ind the dark. Frederiksberg Gardens (Danish: Frederiksberg Have) is one of the largest and most attractive greenspaces in Copenhagen, Denmark. Together with the adjacent Søndermarken it forms a green area of 64 hectares at the western edge of Inner Copenhagen. It is a romantic landscape garden designed in the English style.
