Amqui
Amqui () is a town in eastern Quebec, Canada, at the base of the Gaspé peninsula in Bas-Saint-Laurent. Located at the confluence of the Humqui and Matapédia Rivers, it is the seat of La Matapédia Regional County Municipality. The main access road is Quebec Route 132. Etymology The Mi'kmaq word ''amgoig'', also written ''humqui'', ''unkoui'' and ''ankwi'', means "the place to have fun", "half wall" or "place of amusement and pleasure." Another Mi'kmaq name for the area is ''Amkooĭk'' or ''Mkooögwĭk'' which aptly describes the area as "boggy." One source postulates that its name comes from the swirling water at the junction of the Humqui and Matapédia rivers. Rimouski is a provincial electoral district in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec, Canada, that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. Michel Tremblay (politician)
Michel Tremblay (born March 28, 1933 in Cap-à-l'Aigle, Quebec) is a politician from Québec, Canada. A teacher by profession, he served in several education-related positions in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region before being elected to the National Assembly of Quebec as a Liberal in Rimouski in 1985. After being re-elected in 1989, he was defeated in 1994. He served as mayor of Rimouski from 1994 to 2005. He ran unsuccessfully as a Liberal in Rimouski-Neigette—Témiscouata—Les Basques in the 2006 federal election. Irvin Pelletier (born May 28, 1946 in Sayabec, Quebec) is a Quebec politician and notary. He was the Member of National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Rimouski for the Parti Québécois. Pelletier went to Université Laval and received a bachelor's degree in pedagogy. He also attended the Université de Sherbrooke and obtained a master's degree in commercial sciences. He then became a notary for nearly 30 years and also a lecturer at Université du Québec à Rimouski where he was also an administration member.
