El Soberano or Soberano Jr. (born August 12, 1993 in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico) is a Mexican ''luchador enmascarado'', or masked professional wrestler currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) portraying a '' tecnico'' ("Good guy") wrestling character. Soberano Jr.'s real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. He is a third-generation wrestler, son of Euforia and grandson of Pablo Moreno Román, known under the ring name El Soberano. Soberano is Spanish for "Sovereign". Euforia (born December 5, 1974) is the ring name of a second-generation Mexican ''luchador'' '' Enmascarado'', (or masked professional wrestler), currently working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). ''Torneo Sangre Nueva'' ("The New Blood Tournament") is a professional wrestling tournament promoted by the Mexican lucha libre promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), first held in 2012. The tournament focuses primarily on younger wrestlers or wrestlers who work in the lower ranks of the promotion, generally the first or second match of the show, as a way to highlight or promote a wrestler up to a higher level of competition. Torneo Gran Alternativa (2017)
The ''Gran Alternativa'' 2017 is an ongoing professional wrestling tournament event produced by the Mexican wrestling promotion '' Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre'' (CMLL; Spanish "World Wrestling Council") that began on June 2, 2017 and will take place over three editions of CMLL's Friday night '' Super Viernes'' shows. The '' Torneo Gran Alternativa'' (Great alternative tournament) was first held in 1994 and is CMLL's oldest recurring tournament. The 2017 ''Gran Alternativa'' tournament will be the 22nd tournament held. Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre Co., Ltd. (CMLL; , "World Wrestling Council") is a ''lucha libre'' professional wrestling promotion based in Mexico City. CMLL Super Viernes (September 2012)
In September 2012 the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) held three CMLL Super Viernes shows, all of which took place in Arena México on Friday nights. On Friday September 14, CMLL held their annual Anniversary Show, replacing the regular Super Viernes show. Some of the matches from Super Viernes are taped for CMLL's weekly shows that air in Mexico the week following the Super Viernes show. The shows features various professional wrestling matches with different wrestlers involved in pre-existing scripted feuds or storylines. Lucha Libre
Lucha libre (, meaning "freestyle wrestling" or literally translated as "free fight") is the term used in Latin America for professional wrestling. Since its introduction to Mexico in the early 20th century, it has developed into a unique form of the genre, characterized by colorful masks, rapid sequences of holds and maneuvers, and "high-flying" maneuvers, some of which have been adopted in the United States, Japan, and elsewhere.
