Smišljak, Vrbovsko
Smišljak or Smišljak Lukovdolski is a settlement in Croatia, part of the town of Vrbovsko. History Construction on the Črnomelj-Vrbovsko railway begun in 1939, but by 1940 it had come to a halt thanks to a worker dispute. Thanks to the outbreak of WWI, it was never finished. On 11 August 2012, drought caused the depletion of water from the storage unit responsible for tap water in Severin na Kupi, Draga Lukovdolska, Močile, Smišljak, Damalj, Klanac, Plešivica, Rim, Zdihovo and Liplje. Smišljak was hit by the 2014 Dinaric ice storm. Demographics In 1870, Smišljak had 10 houses and 77 people. In 1890, Smišljak had 15 houses and 71 people. Damalj
Damalj is a village in Croatia, under the Vrbovsko township, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. Name Damalj shares an etymology with Damelj on the opposite side of the river. Lukovdol
Lukovdol is a small village located in the Gorski Kotar region of Croatia, about one mile south of the Slovenian border. Lukovdol is part of Vrbovsko municipality. Local industries include cattle raising, lumber processing, and textile products. Lukovdol is the birthplace of Ivan Goran Kovačić, one of Croatia's most notable poets of the 20th century, and the site of a memorial museum dedicated to him, opened in 1975. History Lukovdol was first mentioned on 22 February 1481 in a document freeing the citizens of Grič from tariffs in Lukovdol and elsewhere. The 2014 Dinaric ice storm, better known as the 2014 Slovenia ice storm or 2014 Croatia ice storm, was a severe ice storm ( SPIA 5) that struck the Northwest Dinaric Alps between 31 January and 2 February 2014. Liplje, Vrbovsko
Liplje or Liplje Bosiljevačko is a settlement in the City of Vrbovsko in Croatia. In 2021, its population was 58. History Pavle Pavlinić and Jakov Ribić of Liplje were listed by as fallen antifascist soldiers in WWII. On 11 August 2012, drought caused a loss of tap water in Severin na Kupi, Draga Lukovdolska, Močile, Smišljak, Damalj, Klanac, Plešivica, Rim, Zdihovo and Liplje. Liplje was hit by the 2014 Dinaric ice storm. On 18 July 2023, the wind of a thunderstorm left Liplje without power. Demographics In 1828/1830, there were 147 residents in 15 families, all Catholic.
