Knoxdale-Merivale (Ward 9) is a city ward in Ottawa, Ontario. Located in the city's west end, the ward is bordered to the east by the Rideau River and Fisher Avenue, the northern boundaries of the community of Barrhaven to the south, Ontario Highway 416 and Cedarview Road to the west and to the north by the Canadian National railway west of Merivale Road and Baseline Road to its east. It includes the communities of portions or all of Arlington Woods, Craig Henry, Tanglewood, Manordale, Crestview, Skyview, Parkwood Hills, Merivale Gardens, Grenfell Glen, Pineglen and Country Place. Highway 416 (Ontario)
King's Highway 416, commonly referred to as Highway 416 and as the Veterans Memorial Highway, is a 400-series highway in the Canadian province of Ontario that connects the Trans-Canada Highway ( Highway 417) in Ottawa with Highway 401 between Brockville and Cornwall. The freeway acts as an important trade corridor from Interstate 81 between New York and Eastern Ontario via Highway 401, as well as the fastest link between Ottawa and Toronto. Highway 416 passes through a largely rural area, except near its northern terminus where it enters the suburbs of Ottawa. The 2018 Ottawa municipal election was a municipal election that was held on October 22, 2018, to elect the mayor of Ottawa, Ottawa City Council and the Ottawa-Carleton Public and Catholic School Boards. Keith Egli
Keith Egli (born January 20, 1962) was the Ottawa city councillor for Knoxdale-Merivale Ward from 2010 to 2022. He won the ward in the 2010 Ottawa municipal election, which was vacated by the retiring Gord Hunter. Background Egli was born in Montreal and moved to Ottawa as a teenager. He graduated from St. Pius X High School in Ottawa. He received a BA in Sociology and a law degree from the University of Ottawa. Prior to his election, he was a lawyer and mediator in Ottawa for twenty years. He is also a labour relations specialist. Politics Egli was first elected in 2010. Gordon Hunter (born January 20, 1946) was an Ottawa City Councillor. He represented Knoxdale-Merivale Ward. On January 31, 2010, he announced that he would not be running re-election to city council in 2010. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Hunter was born into a military family and moved frequently during his childhood. He attended Lakefield College School, Dalhousie University, and University of Toronto, graduating in 1968. He moved to Nepean in 1968 to become a teacher at Confederation High School, and taught physical education there for thirty-one years until the school closed in 1999. Trend-Arlington is a suburban neighbourhood in Knoxdale-Merivale Ward in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The neighbourhood is located with in the former City of Nepean in the west end of the city. It is located west of Greenbank Road, east of Highway 416 and Cedarview Road, north of West Hunt Club Road and south of the Leslie Park neighbourhood.
