Sky Dream (Taiwan)
The Sky Dream () is a 126-metre-tall giant Ferris wheel in LIHPAO Discovery Land, Houli District, Taichung, Taiwan. It is the largest Ferris wheel in Taiwan being 126 meters (413 feet) tall. History The Ferris wheel was originally built as Sky Dream Fukuoka in Fukuoka, Japan. It opened in 2001 and closed on 26 September 2009. It was sold and dismantled in 2010 and shipped to Taiwan. Reconstruction at Lihpao Land started in 2014. It started its operation on May 13, 2017. Design The Ferris wheel has a diameter of 126 meters and stands at an altitude of 384 meters above sea level. It has a total 60 passenger cars with each car can accommodate passengers up to 8 people. It runs at a speed of 25 minutes per revolution. A Ferris wheel (also called a Giant Wheel or an observation wheel) is an amusement ride consisting of a rotating upright wheel with multiple passenger-carrying components (commonly referred to as passenger cars, cabins, tubs, gondolas, capsules, or pods) attached to the rim in such a way that as the wheel turns, they are kept upright, usually by gravity. Lihpao Land
Lihpao Resort () is a theme park located in Houli District, Taichung, Taiwan. It currently has two roller coasters, including Gravity Max, the world's first coaster to feature a true 90-degree drop and the world's first tilt coaster. Besides Gravity Max, Lihpao Land has several themed areas with varied attractions, such as the Mine Express roller coaster, the Hook (a pirate ship ride), and the Wild Flume Adventure, a reversing log flume attraction. Houli District
Houli District () is a rural district in northwestern Taichung City, Taiwan. History After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Houli was organized as a rural township of Taichung County named Neipu Township. On 1 October 1955, Neipu Township was renamed as Houli Township. On 25 December 2010, Taichung County was merged with Taichung City and Houli was upgraded to a district of the city. Sky Dream Fukuoka
was a 120-metre-tall giant Ferris wheel in the city of Fukuoka, Japan, operating from December 2001 until September 2009. It was tall, making it the tallest Ferris wheel in Japan during its years of operation. It was located in the Evergreen Marinoa (Japanese: エバーグリーンマリノア) entertainment facility adjacent to the Marinoa City Fukuoka mall, which itself features a smaller, 58-metre-tall ferris wheel.
